Our Pick:
Bet on Patriots, Here!
Now that Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa seems more comfortable with the offense and his relationship with head coach Brian Flores, maybe he can take full advantage of having receivers DeVante Parker and Will Fuller to throw to along with Gronk-like TE Mike Gesicki, a solid crew to take into this Week 1 confrontation in Foxborough.
New England Patriots famed HC and GM Bill Belichick has released veteran QB Cam Newton and named Mac Jones as his starting QB, the first time in forever he’s started a rookie in Week 1, most likely counting on his backfield for help, including RBs Damien Harris, James White, and WR Jakobi Meyers.
These two AFC East rivals have met each other 111 previous times (including 3 postseason games), with the New England Patriots winning 54 of those games and the Miami Dolphins winning 57 of the games.
Can Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Prove He is NFL Worthy?
Despite struggling at times during his rookie debut, Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa stays the starting quarterback this season and will be under center in Week 1 against the Patriots, giving the young hurler a worthy challenge right out of the gate.
Last year, Tagovailoa started nine games in Miami, posting a respectable rookie record of 6-3 after completing 64 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards and 11 touchdowns with 5 interceptions, numbers not crazy impressive but good enough for him to earn the starting job in 2021.
It’s a young Dolphins team and head coach Brian Flores is only beginning to tap into its chemistry but expect Tua to come out slinging to his playmakers DeVante Parker, Mack Holins, and rookie first-round receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Can Patriots Rookie QB Mac Jones Prove Belichick Right?
“Brady” comparisons aside, Patriots starting QB Mac Jones who has earned a rare rookie Week 1 start in New England, something that head coach and general manager Bill Belichick has never done.
There must be a reason why the NFL’s winningest coach has double-downed on this Alabama alum who is a 2x CFP National Champion, with Mac Jones even drawing comparisons to the GOAT Tom Brady who he must follow under center in New England.
If Jones can remain calm and distribute the ball effectively and continue the Patriot’s home-opening win streak it will prove Belichick right for trusting him and it will begin perhaps a new run of winning seasons for these Pats.

Dolphins Key Player: (RB) Myles Gaskin
About to start his third NFL season, Dolphins running back Myles Gaskin has increased his production every year he has been a pro player, although now it’s time for him to truly step up his game.
In his rookie campaign, Gaskin ran the ball just 36 times for 133 yards and a touchdown with 7 catches for another 51 yards, but then last season he exploded, posting 142 carries for 584 yards and 3 TDs with 41 receptions for almost 400 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Another jump like that in production would make Gaskin a featured back in Miami and that is exactly what this team needs to take some of the attention off Tua and his ever-evolving passing game.
Patriots Key Player: (WR) Nelson Agholor
This will be veteran wide receiver Nelson Agholor’s third NFL franchise having already played for the Philadelphia Eagles for five seasons and the Las Vegas Raiders last year, a pro experience that should help his younger QB, Mac Jones, in his rookie season.
Agholor is a six-foot speedster who last season had his best pro year yet catching 48 balls for almost 900 yards and 8 touchdowns, numbers that should increase even more with his role in Miami.
In his six-season NFL career, Agholor has won a Super Bowl with the Eagles and he has accumulated 26 total touchdowns off 272 receptions for 3,411 yards, and now with talented Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, he is in a position to have his best season yet.
