Best NHL Bets Today January 9

After a solid four-game slate on Monday night, there are more games to watch and potentially win some earnings. These will be the games to keep track of for solid betting opportunities. These oddsmakers are giving great opportunities for fans of the NHL and casual bettors to potentially earn some great winnings tonight through DraftKings.

Seattle Kraken vs. Buffalo Sabres

My Pick: Seattle Kraken (SEA)

Kicking off one of the best NHL games on Tuesday night is the Eastern Conference versus the Western Conference matchup as the Buffalo Sabres (17-19-4) host the Seattle Kraken (16-14-9). This game will be the first meeting this season between the two teams.

The Kraken have turned themselves into one of the hottest teams well into the new year. Seattle has won six consecutive games including huge wins at the Los Angeles Kings, at home over the Philadelphia Flyers, and a 3-0 home win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Their defense has improved drastically as they have allowed only six goals in the last six games.

The Sabres is among the among the least prominent Eastern Conference teams in the NHL this season. Buffalo has won three of the last four games including a 6-1 win at the Montreal Canadians and a 3-1 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Their defense has improved significantly within the past few games.

Not too long ago in the season, the Kraken were among one of the worst defenses in the league. Going into Tuesday night, Seattle’s defense ranks 10th in the league in goals allowed per game (2.85). This is a testament to the resurgence of the Kraken, who played in the Western Conference Finals last season.

The Sabres are not among the worst teams in the league offensively, but they are ranked 22nd in the league in goals per game (3.00). This is going to be a huge task for a Sabres team to score consistently against a Kraken defense that has found life in their defensive efficiency.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

My Pick: Los Angeles Kings (LA)

Another game to kick off a stellar night of NHL will be an Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup. The Los Angeles Kings (20-10-6) go on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning (19-17-5) in a game that could feature a high amount of scoring.

The Kings and the Lightning have been ranked among the top-scoring offenses at one point of the still-young season. The Kings and the Lightning possess high-scoring offenses based on the elite play of two of the most explosive players in the league.

The Lightning are averaging 3.24 goals per game thanks to the stellar play of forward Nikita Kucherov, who has accumulated 67 points with 28 of them being goals and 39 being assists.

The Kings are averaging 3.36 goals per game thanks to a series of stars. Among the biggest offensive playmakers for Los Angeles is center Adrian Kempe, who has accounted for 36 points with 15 of them being goals and 22 of them being assists.

The biggest key going into this game is the defensive efficiency of both teams. Los Angeles is ranked second in the league in goals allowed per game (2.42) thanks to their prominent set of goalies. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, is ranked 27th in the league in goals allowed per game (3.49). This will be a huge edge for the Kings as they have the defensive philosophy and the players to stop one of the fastest-paced offenses in the league in the Lightning.

Boston Bruins vs. Arizona Coyotes

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. Score $200 in Bonus Bets at DraftKings, Bet $5, Win Big, Act fast!

My Pick: Boston Bruins (BOS)

One of the biggest matchups in the NHL at the end of the night is the third and final Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup as the Boston Bruins (24-8-7) go on the road to take on the Arizona Coyotes (19-17-2).

Exactly one month ago, the Coyotes and the Bruins met for the first time this season on the ice. Despite a huge push from Arizona late in the game, the Bruins defeated the Coyotes with a 5-3 score in Boston. Bruins star forward David Pastrnak accounted for two goals and one assist. Coyotes forward Michael Carcone accounted for his 13th goal of the season in an unassisted score.

The Bruins are coming into this game with a huge advantage on both sides of the ice as they are better than the Coyotes on offense and defense. Boston is averaging 3.36 goals per game (11th in the league) thanks to elite players like Pastrnak. Defensively, Boston allows only 2.67 goals per game (fifth in the league) thanks to the impressive play of their goalkeepers.

Arizona ranks among the bottom half of the league in goals per game as they average only 2.95 goals per game. Defensively, on the other hand, the colonies are doing much better defending against some of the top-scoring offenses in the league as they only allow an average of 3.00 goals per game, 13th in the league.

A big key factor that could affect this game is that the Bruins are coming off an emotional 4-3 shootout lose to the Colorado Avalanche at home last night. The Bruins are a much more efficient team, but they could be mentally fatigued after a huge win last night.
