Minnesota Wild vs. Florida Panthers

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. Score $200 in Bonus Bets at DraftKings.

My Pick: Florida Panthers (FLA)

One of the two cross-conference games of the night this set as the Minnesota Wild (18-21-5) go on the road to take on the Florida Panthers (27-13-4). This game will be the second matchup this season between the Panthers and the Wild took a 2-0 shocking win at home in the season opener for both teams. Minnesota goalie Filip Gustavsson blocked all 41 of the Panthers’ shot attempts after trying to start aggressive early in the season. Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek accounted for a goal and an assist in the game.

As the season progressed, a lot changed for both the Panthers and the Wild. The Panthers have been one of the more efficient defensive teams in the NHL this season. The Wild changed their coaching staff earlier in the season after a tough start and a poor showing of results on both sides of the ice.

Minnesota ranks 25th in the league in goals per game (2.86) and 26th in goals allowed per game (3.39). They have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the league and yet they are a team that gets favoritism from sportsbooks, even if they are underdogs. This makes the bet for the Panthers present great value in significant earnings.

The Panthers are a team that averages a moderate 3.14 goals per game, 16th in the league, thanks to their conservative offense. Defensively, Florida is one of the most elite teams in the league as they allow an average of 2.57 goals per game. The Panthers should be one of the best bets on Friday considering Minnesota has lost five of their last six games.

New Jersey Devils vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. Bet $5, snag $200 in bonus bets with DraftKings. Win or lose, you're a winner!

My Pick: Over 6.5 Goals Scored (-125)

A battle for seeding in the Metropolitan Division takes place on Friday night as the New Jersey Devils (22-17-3) go on the road to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets (14-21-9). This game will be the fourth and final matchup this season between these two divisional rivals.

The Blue Jackets won the first matchup on the road with a 2-1 score on November 24. The Devils, however, got revenge in the next two games by outscoring them 10-6.

This game is likely going to be a high-scoring game due to the poor defensive play from both the Devils and the Blue Jackets. New Jersey allows an average of 3.48 goals per game (28th in the league). Columbus allows an average of 3.37 goals per game, 31st in the league. They are only better than the San Jose Sharks, who are officially the worst team in the league.

The Blue Jackets have become a more efficient offense over the past few weeks. They are now averaging 3.0 goals per game, 21st in the league. The Devils, on the other hand, are averaging 3.43 goals per game, seventh in the league. They still possess one of the most productive offenses in the league despite not having star center Jack Hughes, who is out with an injury.

The last two of three matchups between the Devils and the Blue Jackets have eclipsed 6.5 goals. This game tonight has a great chance of more than six goals again for the final matchup this season.
