The Boston Bruins enter the new year as the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. They will start the new season on the road taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets and reputation game work Boston could score consistently.

Columbus comes into this game with the 30th-ranked defense in the league (3.66 goals allowed per game) as their talent doesn’t much the production. Boston, on the other hand, is averaging 3.2 goals per game.

Bruins forward Brad Marchand has the potential to account for another highly productive game. Marchand has accounted for two points in two of the last three games. He is second on the team in points accounted for (33), with 13 goals scored and 20 assists accounted for.

The Bruins will look to take away pressure from forward David Pastrnak, who has accounted for a team-high 50 points.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Winnipeg Jets

My Pick – Gabriel Vilardi to Account for Over 0.5 Points (-125) at DraftKings

One of the biggest Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchups is set for a huge night as the Tampa Bay Lightning on the road to take on the Winnipeg Jets.  

This game is going to be highlighted by the efficiency of the defense from both sides, but more so from me inefficient performance of the Lightnings’ defense. Tampa Bay possesses a defense that is ranked 25th in the league in goals allowed per game, allowing 3.45 goals per game.

The Jets have a reliable slate of highly efficient scorers on their team. Among them is center Gabriel Vilardi, who has accounted for 15 points with seven of them coming from goals and eight from assists.

Vilardi isn’t an explosive scorer as the other members of the Jets, but he has taken the fourth-highest amount of shots at 15.6%. There is a solid opportunity that Vilardi can account for a big game and take the pressure off the other leading scorers.
