Best NHL Prop Bets Today January 18

There are some great playoff-caliber games, including a potential Stanley Cup Finals matchup. There is also a rescheduled game from last night that presents some value for player props. Tonight’s games should be a great opportunity for casual NHL fans and sports bettors to potentially earn winnings through sportsbooks on player props.

Here are our favorite NHL player prop picks for Thursday.

The following odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook, where the NHL Prop Bets can be made. Check out the best NHL bonuses and promo codes for more betting opportunities.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Boston Bruins

My Pick – Brad Marchand to Account for Over 1.5 Points (+165)

Kicking off Thursday's slate of NHL games is a potential Stanley Cup finals matchup between the Colorado Avalanche and the Boston Bruins. This is a game that either brings the best out of the star players or gets the impact from other role players.

On January 8, the Avalanche defeated the Bruins in a 4-3 shootout in Denver. The Avalanche got the most from their role players, while the Bruins got a solid performance from forward Brad Marchand, who scored two goals.

Marchand accounted for two points in four of the eight games into the new year, including the last two games played for the Bruins.

In 43 games played, Marchand has accumulated 41 points, with 19 of them being goals and 22 of them being assists. Look for Marchand to account for another big game against the Avalanche.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Buffalo Sabres

My Pick – Casey Mittelstatd to Account for Over 0.5 Points (+105)

Last night was supposed to be the televised matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Buffalo Sabres, but the weather had different plans for the game. The game was pushed to Thursday night, thus allowing the Blackhawks to get some rest after almost playing a second game in two nights. However, it will not matter much.

The Sabres should have a great shot at multiple scores against a bad Blackhawks team. Chicago is ranked 29th in the league in goals allowed per game (3.65) due to the lack of established talent throughout the ice. It doesn’t help that Blackhawks star center Connor Bedard is still out due to a broken jaw.

Finally, the Blackhawks are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, which is not an impressive win over the worst team in the league.

In the six games of January, center Casey Mittelstadt has accounted for a team-high seven points, with two goals and a team-high five assists. He is a player who is going to set the tempo and create scoring opportunities for the Sabres.

Minnesota Wild vs. Tampa Bay Lighting

My Pick – Nikita Kucherov to Account for Over 1.5 Points (-135)

The Tampa Bay Lightning will have a chance at a big scoring opportunity as they host the Minnesota Wild this Thursday night in an Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup. It is always expected that forward Nikita Kucherov should put up high numbers in a game as a scorer and as a role player to set up scoring opportunities for his teammates.

In six games played this year, Kucherov has accounted for 11 total points, with four games contributing to two or more goals and assists. He has accounted for 72 total points this season, with 28 of them being goals and 44 being assists.

Thanks to his contributions on the offensive side of the ice, the Lightning are tied for 11th in the league in goals per game, averaging 3.3 goals. Ironically, the Wild possess a defense that has given up an average of 3.3 goals per game, 22nd in the league.
