Ufc 273 Volkanovski Vs Korean Zombie

UFC 273 Volkanovski vs Korean Zombie Predictions

(C) Alexander Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie – Featherweight championship

Alexander Volkanovski TALE OF THE TAPE Chan Sung Jung
33 Age 35
5 ft. 6 in. Height 5 ft. 9 in.
71 in. Reach 72 in.
23-1 Record 17-6

Originally expected to defend his title against Max Holloway, champion Alexander Volkanovksi now finds himself challenged by the man known as the Korean Zombie – Chan Sung Jung.

After winning the title from Holloway and defending it in their rematch, Volkanovski went on to have a fight of the night with Brian Ortega last September – whom he beat via unanimous decision at UFC 266.

Jung had back-to-back wins (and performance bonuses) before succumbing to Brian Ortega in 2020. However, Jung bounced back – most recently defeating Dan Ige via unanimous decision last June.

The Zombie will stand three inches taller and have a one-inch reach advantage, but Volkanovski has proven that he is a dominant fighter – one that is still undefeated in the UFC and hasn’t lost since 2013.

Because of this, the champion is favored as -800 – the largest betting favorite on the main card.

(C) Aljamain Sterling vs. (IC) Petr Yan – Bantamweight championship

Aljamain Sterling TALE OF THE TAPE Petr Yan
32 Age 29
5 ft. 7 in. Height 5 ft. 7 in.
71 in. Reach 67 in.
20-3 Record 16-2

The rematch we’ve all been waiting for. These two fought for Petr Yan’s bantamweight title last March at UFC 259 where Yan was disqualified for using an illegal knee – making Aljamain Sterling the first fighter to win a championship via DQ.

Sterling has not fought since the controversial bout, opting to have surgery and recover in anticipation of the rematch.

Yan fought once more since his DQ, defeating Cory Sandhagen via unanimous decision last October at UFC 276 for the interim title – securing his rematch with Sterling.

Both men stand at equal height but Sterling will have a four-inch reach advantage. However many still acknowledge Yan as the true champion and the Russian fighter is listed as a -480 favorite to win.

Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev – Welterweight division

Gilbert Burns TALE OF THE TAPE Khamzat Chimaev
35 Age 27
5 ft. 10 in. Height 6 ft. 2 in.
71 in. Reach 75 in.
20-4 Record 10-0

Undefeated prospect Khamzat Chimaev faces his toughest test to date in former title challenger Gilbert Burns.

Chimaev is younger, taller, and longer and has left the first-round only once during his time with the UFC. He most recently submitted Li Jingliang in the first-round of their UFC 267 fight last October.

Burns bounced back following his loss to champion Kamaru Usman by defeating former title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 last July. Burns is ranked as the number-two best welterweight in the division.

However, given Chimaev’s physical advantages and impressive performances thus far, he is listed as a staggering -650 to take the victory.

Mackenzie Dern vs. Tecia Torres – Women’s strawweight division

Mackenzie Dern TALE OF THE TAPE Tecia Torres
29 Age 32
5 ft. 4 in. Height 5 ft. 1 in.
63 in. Reach 60.5 in.
11-2 Record 13-5

Number-7 in the strawweight division takes on number-5 as Mackenzie Dern takes on Tecia Torres.

Dern, one of the most decorated jiu-jitsu practitioners in the UFC, had her four-fight winning streak snapped in her last fight via decision at the hands of Marina Rodriguez last October.

Her opponent, Tecia Torres, currently finds herself on a three-fight winning streak – having most recently defeated Angela Hill via decision last August at UFC 265.

This will be the first fight of 2022 for both women. At -122, Dern has the edge in the eyes of the oddsmakers, likely due to the significant grappling advantage.

Alexey Oleynik vs. Jared Vanderaa – Heavyweight division

Alexey Oleynik TALE OF THE TAPE Jared Vanderaa
44 Age 29
6 ft. 2 in. Height 6 ft. 4 in.
80 in. Reach 80 in.
59-16-1 Record 12-7

Not many people come close to the experience level of Alexey Oleynik. Boasting a master of sport in sambo, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and a fourth-degree black belt in jujutsu, Oleynik will be competing in his 77th professional fight this Saturday.

However, the 44-year-old is currently riding a three-fight losing streak. He was expected to take on Ilir Latifi two-weeks ago but Latifi was forced to pull out the say of their fight due to illness.

Jared Vanderaa boasts physical advantages in this bout. He is 15-years younger and two-inches taller. Both men have equal reach.

Vanderaa is also on a losing streak, having lost his last two fights. His most recent loss coming via split-decision at the hands of Andre Arlovski this past February.
