Match of the Weekend: Arsenal vs. Tottenham
Published by adam | Filed under Football (aka soccer), Miscellaneous
Top 4 worthy match happening this Saturday in a sure to be exciting derby showdown.

The Gunners of Arsenal take on the Tottenham Hotspurs Saturday in the Emirates Stadium in a match that could carry heavy weight throughout the season. The two squads at 19 points a piece look even except that Arsenal has a game in hand. A win for Arsenal lifts them into the 2nd spot of the tables only beating Manchester United on goal differential. Had the Spurs not been upset last week by Stoke City, they would be the ones sharing 2nd place.
The Spurs will be ready to run, eager to phase out last week’s embarrassment. If they do have a fighting chance of a top 4 finish, they certainly have to understand the importance of this type of game.
Tottenham however hasn’t beaten Arsenal in 19 attempts. The last win for the Spurs came 10 years ago. And the last time they came away with a victory at Arsenal was in 1993.
Arsene Wenger of Arsenal is still without Tomas Rosicky, Denilson and Theo Walcott. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is also injured and will apparently have a 3 week break. Even without these stars, Arsenal has looked strong and certainly has the talent to suffice.
Tottenham, on the other hand, is without Defoe who is serving a one game suspension. Aaron Lennon is also missing the match due to a knee problem.
Prediction:
The home field advantage, the firepower, and the backups will be enough to push Arsenal through to a victory. Furthermore, in a case of “spoken too soon” Robbie Keane has claimed his squad is as deep as or deeper than that of the Arsenal powerhouse.
Pick:
Arsenal 3 – 1 Tottenham
