Sir Alex Ferguson Aviods FA Action

Published by adam | Filed under Football (aka soccer), Miscellaneous

After Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea, Sir Alex Ferguson continues to blame and attack referees without receiving any form of punishment.

Sir Alex Ferguson

I am not sure about you guys, but I am more than fed up with Sir Alex Ferguson’s constant rants, abuse, and bashing of the officials. His recent behavior is certainly not good for the sport.

Of course Fergie, like every coach, has complained in the past. However, in what started with publicly claiming ref Alan Wiley “unfit” last month, the complaints and tirades have yet to cease. The knight then blasted referee Olegario Benquerenca for a penalty appeal during Man U’s Champions League match against CSKA Moscow.

After the Chelsea game, the Man United manager made comments about Martin Atkinson stating that these types of decisions are what make players and managers “lose faith in refereeing.”

As for the match, United is listed with 18 shots, but only 2 on goal. 2 shots on goal isn’t testing the keeper too much in my book [Chelsea 12 (6)]. Rooney, of course, came the closest to scoring with a shot inches wide of the post as well as bringing about a good save from Petr Cech. Time of possession was more or less equal, but in Manchester’s favor with 53 percent. Nonetheless, had your team put the ball in the back of the net you would have gotten at least a point out of this one coach.

Is he pushing his luck, seeing how far he can get? What is going on? It is obviously affecting the league as other coaches have spoken out about the issue. The FA does not plan on taking any action against the manager for his outbursts. Just what is it going to take?

The game of football has no place for whiners. Winners, on the other hand, win games, that’s it. Win or lose, show some pride and self control. Your actions, Fergie are also reflected by your players. For example, after a foul, the United players made every attempt to get a Chelsea player booked for the second time. Hard fouls were prevalent on both sides in what is expected in a title game of this nature.

Sir Alex is without a doubt a great coach, but recently lacking the respect and distinction a true world-class manager should demonstrate. Win and lose with dignity coach.

You Sir, get the WSN Wanker of the Week award once again.
