Will John Terry Remain as England’s Captain?
Published by adam | Filed under Football (aka soccer), Miscellaneous, World News

So it turns out that I just can’t not write about the John Terry scandal. John Terry and Wayne Bridge are English national teammates, not to mention former Chelsea teammates and good friends. It is just that Terry slept with Wayne’s former girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel, and yeah, got her pregnant.
Besides the obvious don’t sleep with teammates’ girlfriends issue, the problem simply concerns the captaincy and team chemistry of the English national team as World Cup 2010 approaches. Will some players show a lack of trust and respect for Terry? Are the rumors true that players are starting to take sides? Regardless, Capello has a decision to make regarding who will sport the captain’s armband and may even wait until next month to do it. Capello in no way could ask for a better 2nd option with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney in the mix. Forget Rio.
Of course Wayne Bridge “couldn’t stand to be in the same room as Terry.” I personally would go for the throat. It is certainly a big possibility if Wayne chooses not to play for England. But, how could Terry let that happen? If Terry stepped down himself, England would lose a large part of the team.
Terry scored the 2-1 winner last week against Burnley in what will certainly not further tarnish his reputation among Chelsea diehards. According to the Chelsea manager, Chelsea teammates and coaching staff will have Terry’s back and never lose their trust in the captain. It is the English captaincy however, not the Chelsea captaincy that is at stake.
“Ancelotti insists that Terry is helping improve the club’s profile, not tarnishing it… The professionalism of John Terry improves the image of the club. I am a manager and only want to speak about his work. He is a fantastic professional. All the club, the players, management and staff are supporting him and his family at this time.”
More so I would like our readers to read how ridiculous this News of the World article is about drinking games and Terry’s love of brunettes.
In truth, John just got shot with reality. He has been living in a dream world, and that world just came crashing down. Nevertheless, Terry performs on the pitch. In that manner, he is a “fantastic professional” but just dug too deep this time. Team Bridge t-shirts, on the other hand, have been worn by several Manchester City players to show support for the left back, who is without a doubt going through a rough time.

WSN Quote of the Week
“One only has to look at how Ancelotti handled the situation at Chelsea: there was no question of him making any decision about his captain, but he does not have Wayne Bridge at Chelsea.”
No he sure doesn’t.
