Transfer Rumors: Fabregas linked with Barca; Villa staying at Valenica

While the January transfer window closed a little over a week ago, that hasn’t stopped reporters from getting a head start on what is sure to be headlining this summer’s transfer gossip. Here’s the latest:
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal): The Arsenal skipper has never been coy in his desire to return to Barcelona, the club where he started his career. Fabregas made what was already known heard again in his recent interview with Catalunya Ràdio.
“I’ve never hidden that one day I will return to Barcelona,” said Fabregas. ”Since I was nine months old, my grandfather and I never stopped going to the stadium and have always worn Blaugrana colours. For one reason or another I had to leave, but you never know what can happen.”
However, amidst recent speculation that the 22-year old midfielder could strike a deal bringing him home to Camp Nou after this Summer’s World Cup, Barcelona officials released an official statement claiming that no such talks have taken place.
“Given the extraordinary impact of reports in different media about an accord with the Arsenal player Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona categorically denies negotiations or accords of any kind with the player,” the club said in a statement on its website.

David Villa (Valencia CF): Instead of being subject to the media speculation again like he was for the entirety of last summer, David Villa has come out and publicly laid to rest any rumors of potential moves from Valencia next season citing that he wants nothing to come in between him and his quest for a Spanish World Cup title.
“Nothing like last summer will happen again. I do not want to lose the opportunity to play the World Cup with calm and concentration, without thinking of other things. I hope to play this summer and I am not going to answer questions that are not about football. The World Cup is all I have in my head. I cannot control what others say, but I can control what I say and in this case, it will not be anything,” said Valenica’s leading scorer.
The Spanish striker has long been linked with moves to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as a move to the Premiership, most specifically a reunion in Liverpool with international teammate Fernando Torres.
Villa is the definition of professional, in my opinion. Despite constant opportunities for him to move to a contender, Villa has stayed true to Valenica. Furthermore, to come out and end this before it even starts in favor of his concentration on this summer is just another classy move by Senor Villa.
