Juventus 1 – 3 New York Red Bulls: Juventus, A Season to Forget
Published by adam | Filed under Football (aka soccer), Serie A

Juventus is currently doing a North American tour where they will face clubs in the USA and Canada (New York and Toronto). Yesterday Juventus squared up against MLS New York Red Bulls and lost 3-1. Their consolation goal came near the end of the match after trailing by a score of 3-0.
18,735 fans were on hand at Red Bull Arena Sunday to witness the Red Bulls take on the might of Juventus. A hand full of Italian fans were also there to cheer on their Bianconeri.
Of course, Juventus did not bring their players who will play in the World Cup. They brought the guys who will play 2 final games and then take a vacation, although maybe undeserved. Regardless, Juventus featured David Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero, Amauri, and Fabio Grosso to name a few. Okay, these guys may have been thinking vacation, but of course, they have no intention to lose to an MLS team, and consequently were insulted by the large population of Juve fans.
Juventus will then travel to Toronto to take on Fiorentina in the Rogers Centre on the 25th. La Viola finished 11th in Serie A, but had an amazing run in Champions League play where they were a bit unlucky not to advance against Bayern Munich over a very controversial offside no call.
So what is the problem with Juventus? Just what went so wrong?
Midfielder Cristian Poulsen described this years atmosphere situation within the club… “We don’t know how to get this Juve back on its feet, and the future is looking insecure,” said the midfielder.
For one, the management is not properly managing the team. After the relegation to Serie B, Juve lost all of their best management officials. This year’s formation for one, was not fit for the players. Having already fired Zaccheroni, Juve is in need of a coach for the 2010/2011 season that will turn things around. Although Rafa Benitez was heavily linked to the squad, Luigi Delneri of Sampdoria will step in as manager for the coming season. Delneri, was one game away from the Champions League with Sampdoria, but chose to join the likes of Juve in the off season (Sampdoria qualified for the Champions League playoff game by finishing 4th in Serie A). Several changes have taken place including a new President (no more Blanc), General Director, Athletic Trainer, and Manager that have all been hired to settle the situation and change the future for Juve.

Brazilian supermidfielder and playmaker, Diego cannot reach potential in a foreign league on a struggling side. Diego however, has been apart of 45% of Juventus’ goals this season according to theoffisde.com. Diego did however, miss a number of games due to injury or being rested.
Juventus on the other hand, has conceded more goals than regulated Atalanta. Their defensive, in short, needs improvement. Despite having one of the best goalies in the world in Gigi Buffon, they need some help in the back line.
In attack… well you have Amauri. Amauri, i am not sure how, is starting for the club. Let’s work on that.
Juventus is now facing more psychological problems. There is a huge lack of confidence in the club, but hopefully the Agnelli family of Fiat will keep the club alive and well. The club is saying the biggest transformation in the history of Juventus is underway. A lot of players (at least 10) will come and go in the off season.

You’d think it would be a sure bet that Jueve would beat the teams in America easily but clearly not. They have been on a downhill spiral ever since their humbling defeat to Fulham in teh Europa League, i wonder what will be in store fot them next season.
