Our first MLB best bet for this weekend is for the San Francisco Giants to defeat the Texas Rangers on Saturday. The Rangers won this interleague matchup on Friday night, thanks in large part to a significant pitching advantage in what ended up being a 2-1 game. But the Giants should be able to turn the tables on Saturday night, as they have the pitching edge in this contest.
Alex Cobb is on the mound for the Giants, who enters with a 6-3 record and a 3.30 ERA. That is a superior set of numbers to Texas’ Andrew Heaney, who has been respectable but not quite at the same elite level as Cobb. That will be a big edge for the Giants, who are still in the middle of the fight in the National League Wild Card race, even if their chances in the NL West are beginning to slip away.
Some lineup problems for the Rangers will also help the Giants to come away with the win in this contest. There are a couple of injuries on the Rangers side, as Jonah Heim and Josh Jung are both on the IL. That will make things just a little easier on Cobb and the rest of the pitching staff for San Francisco.

Next up on Saturday is another game featuring NL West teams, as the Colorado Rockies take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are heavy favorites going into this game, which is understandable given that they are playing the struggling Rockies. But the Rockies could make this game more competitive than anticipated, thanks to the struggling starting pitcher of the Dodgers.
Tony Gonsolin is on the mound for the Dodgers in this game, which has meant great things for Los Angeles historically. But Gonsolin is going through some struggles that have caused him some frustration over the last couple of months. While the Dodgers could still win this game, the Rockies could end up keeping this game within a run or stealing it outright.
We have seen the Rockies stay competitive for parts of this series as well, which is worth noting before taking their runline here. Colorado led until the very end of the first game of this series on Thursday, when the Dodgers tied things up and took the lead in the final couple of innings of that game. We could see something similar play out here, in what should be an entertaining affair.

On Sunday night baseball this week, the Atlanta Braves will take on the New York Mets. This was supposed to be a battle for the NL East title this season, but the Mets have been a gigantic disappointment so far this season. Here, the Braves should come away with Sunday’s game between these teams, rubbing salt in the wound of what has been a disaster of a season for the Mets.
The Braves are great away from home this year, as they have posted a 36-21 record away from Truist Park. Meanwhile, the Mets are 28-25 at home, and have been completely mediocre at Citi Field all year long. Expect the Mets’ struggles to continue, as Kodai Senga’s control issues will give the Braves extra baserunners that they can use to gain the upper hand.
