Peterson comes into this game at 8-1 with an ERA of 2.85 in 2024. He has 66 strikeouts in 85.1 innings, along with a 1.32 WHIP. In Peterson’s last three starts, he has only allowed three runs in 20.2 innings. 

The Mets have a great chance to win in every game Peterson throws due to his ability to go deep, which is why we are backing him in this spot. 

Nelson is 9-6 with a 4.29 ERA. He has fanned 108 batters in 130 innings while maintaining a 1.28 WHIP. Nelson is coming off a six-inning performance against Boston in which he allowed two runs on five hits. 

On the offensive side, the Diamondbacks have the second-best team batting average in the league, hitting .260. Ketel Marte leads Arizona in almost every category, hitting .298 with 30 home runs and 81 RBIs. 

In 2024, the Mets are hitting .249 as a team, led by Francisco Lindor. He is hitting .270, with 27 home runs and 78 RBIs. 

Even though both offenses have shown signs of dominance this season, we trust Peterson and Nelson to get the job done and cash our first NRFI.

Best NRFI Bets Today: Royals vs. Astros (8:10 PM, EST)

1st Inning Under 0.5 Runs (-105) at bet365

The second NRFI we are taking is in the Royals vs. Astros game. Kansas City is 75-59, trailing Cleveland by one game in the AL Central. Houston comes into this matchup at 71-62, in first place in the AL West. 

Brady Singer, who is 9-9 with an ERA of 3.38, takes the mound for the Royals. He has fanned 141 batters in 146.2 innings and has a 1.25 WHIP. Singer is coming off a rough start against the Phillies, but we think he will bounce back in this matchup. 

The Astros are going with Hunter Brown, who has been dominant in his last few starts. He has allowed four runs in 18.1 innings over his last three starts with 21 strikeouts. Brown has an ERA of 3.72 and is 11-7 in 2024. 

This NRFI can be scary, with both offenses ranking in the top six in team batting average, but we are taking the hot hand in Brown and expect Singer to have a big bounce-back game. 

The Royals are hitting .258 as a team and are led by Bobby Witt, who has been the best player in baseball in 2024. He is hitting .346 with 28 home runs and 95 RBIs. 

Yordan Alvarez has also been unbelievable in 2024, hitting .311 with 28 home runs and 71 RBIs. 

That said, we expect Singer and Brown to slow these offenses down early in the game to cash our second NRFI.
