The Steelers enter the game as a 1.5-point favorite at Caesars
JK Dobbins is averaging 9.9 YPC
The Steelers have allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards in the league
It's hard to believe that the Los Angeles Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers would be undefeated entering this matchup, but here we are. While they may not be the flashiest teams in the league, we expect an exciting matchup between these AFC Conference rivals this weekend.
Betting on evenly matched Week 1 matchups can be difficult, but we have you covered. Below, we’ll share our favorite bet for the Chargers vs. Steelers game, with odds from Caesars Sportsbook. If you want to sign up with Caesars, use promo code WSN1000 to earn a $1,000 First Bet Offer on Caesars.
The following odds are taken from Caesars Sportsbook.
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Los Angeles Chargers | +1.5 (-110) | +105 | Over 36.0 (-110) |
Pittsburgh Steelers | -1.5 (-110) | -125 | Under 36.0 (-110) |
The Chargers have impressed over the first two weeks, but they are about to hit a brick wall in Pittsburgh on Sunday. LA has relied on their impressive backfield to lead the way, but Pittsburgh has allowed the fifth-fewest rushing yards in the league over the first two weeks. That will sway the game on Sunday in the Steelers' favor.

The Chargers won their first two games of the season but came against the Raiders and Panthers. Those are two of the weakest teams in the NFL, making it hard to judge just how good this team is.
One thing we do know is that the Chargers are going to pound the ground game this weekend. Newly acquired JK Dobbins is averaging 9.9 YPC and has already rushed for 266 yards and two touchdowns. However, he will be up against a far better Steelers defense this weekend, leading to a lackluster day.
When the run game fails, it will be lights out for this Chargers team. Their young receiving corps is still finding its way, with seven pass-catchers combining for just 274 receiving yards. Add in the unrelenting pass rush of TJ Watt, and you get a recipe for a rough night for Justin Herbert.
The Steelers’ offense hasn’t looked pretty, but they are doing enough to support their incredible defense. Quarterback Justin Fields is a big reason why, as the former Bear has yet to commit a turnover. That issue has plagued him over his young career, but appears a change in scenery has changed that.
We believe Fields is only starting to settle in with his new team. We have seen his impressive arm strength and speed, though a broken Chicago organization made his job difficult. With a receiver like George Pickens, it is only a matter of time before the two form a dangerous team. Expect to see the start of that tonight.
We think the Steelers may have the best defense in the league. The addition of safety DeShon Elliott and linebacker Patrick Queen has vastly improved the unit, which also has one of the greatest pass rushers of the last decade in TJ Watt.
