Francis Ngannou vs Cyril Gane – Heavyweight Championship

Francis Ngannou TALE OF THE TAPE Cyril Gane
35 Age 31
6 ft. 4 in. Height 6 ft. 4 in.
83 in. Reach 81 in.
16-3 Record 13-0

The heavyweight championship as well as the title of ‘baddest man on the planet’ is up for grabs this Saturday as former teammates Francis Ngannou and Cyril Gane headline UFC 270.

Ngannou, unbeaten in his last five outings, last fought against Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 last March, where he earned a second-round knockout win, a performance of the night bonus, and the heavyweight championship. It was his second shot at Stipe and the heavyweight belt and he made the most of his chance.

Nagnnou’s former training partner and now opponent Cyril Gane faced his toughest challenge to date last August when he took on Derrick Lewis. Gane secured a second-round TKO victory and was awarded the interim UFC heavyweight title. He is undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts career.

Equal in height, Gane is four-years younger than Ngannou but it is the champion who will enjoy a two-inch reach advantage over his opponent.

Despite Ngannou’s power, oddsmakers have Gane as the -150 favorite – likely due to his precision and kickboxing prowess as well as his stamina.

Brandon Moreno vs Deiveson Figueiredo – Flyweight championship

Brandon Moreno TALE OF THE TAPE Deiveson Figueiredo
28 Age 34
5 ft. 7 in. Height 5 ft. 5 in.
70 in. Reach 68 in.
19-5-2 Record 20-2-1

For the third fight in a row for these two men, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo will fight for the UFC flyweight championship.

Their first bout took place in late 2020 at UFC 256, where the two men fought to a draw, leading to Figueiredo retaining the championship.

The two rematched at UFC 263 last June, where Moreno secured a rear-naked choke in the third-round, becoming the first Mexican-born champion in UFC history. Now the two will have their trilogy bout.

The champion Moreno comes in with most physical advantages. He is younger, taller, and has a longer reach than his opponent. Both men possess black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

At -178, Brandon Moreno is favored to retain his title.

Michel Pereira vs Andrea Fialho – Welterweight division

Michel Pereira TALE OF THE TAPE Andre Fialho
28 Age 27
6 ft. 1 in. Height 6 ft.
73 in. Reach 74 in.
26-11, 2 no-contests Record 14-3

Following back-to-back losses, one of which was due to disqualification, Michel Pereira has bounced back in a big way, having won his last three fights in a row.

Most recently, Pereira fought Niko Price, earning a unanimous decision win at UFC 264 last July.

Pereira fights UFC newcomer Andre Fialho, who is riding a winning streak of his own, having won his last four straight.

The physical differences between the two men are minimal but it should be noted that Pereira holds black belts in both Brazilian jiu-jitsu as well as karate.

Pereira is a heavy favorite at -310 at FanDuel sportsbook.

Cody Stamann vs Said Nurmagomedov – Bantamweight division

Cody Stamann TALE OF THE TAPE Said Nurmagomedov
32 Age 29
5 ft. 6 in. Height 5 ft. 8 in.
64 in. Reach 70 in.
19-4-1 Record 14-2

Cody Stamann hopes to get back in the win column this Saturday, having gone just 1-2-1 in his last four fights – losing his last two in a row by unanimous decision.

The NCAA division-two wrestler holds a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu but will still need to be at his best to take out Said Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagoemdov is 3-1 since signing with the UFC and knocked out Mark Striegl in the first round of his last fight. However, that fight took place in October 2020 and Nurmagomedov has yet to fight since.

The Russian-born Nurmagomedov is the younger fighter as well as the taller and longer fighter. Oddsmakers have him set as the -205 favorite.

*A heavyweight bout between Greg Hardy and Aleksei Oleynik was expected to take place at this event. However, Oleynik withdrew from the contest and was replaced by Sergey Spivak. Greg Hardy then withdrew from the contest citing a finger injury and the fight was canceled. At press time, no replacement bout has been announced*
