*Note that not all bookmakers are offering odds on LIV Golf and some states are limiting options too. BetRivers, bet365, and Caesars Sportsbook have priced it up and these states are permitting wagers at DraftKings: Arizona, Connecticut, Wyoming, Oregon, and Illinois. There are many good golf betting sites that are available across the US.

This week will be a fascinating one for LIV Golf because it is the first time the rebel circuit has assembled since the announcement of the merger between its owner - Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund - and the PGA Tour.
The course should be no less interesting because it is the first LIV visit to Spain and the always intriguing Valderrama.
The course is good enough to have hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, the 1999 and 2000 WGC American Express Championship, and multiple DP World Tour events.
The fairways sneak between cork trees, the property is undulating, the greens fiendish and the wind can add to the test.
It will suit patient golfers - and might infuriate those with a shorter fuse.
Year | Champion and winning score |
2022 | Adrian Otaegui (Spain) -19 |
2021 | Matt Fitzpatrick (England) -6 |
2020 | John Catlin (U.S.) +2 |
2019 | Christiaan Bezuidenhout (South Africa) -10 |
2018 | Sergio Garcia (Spain) -12 (54 holes) |
2017 | Sergio Garcia (Spain) -12 |
2016 | Andrew Johnson (England) +1 |
2011 | Sergio Garcia (Spain) -6 |
2010 | Graeme McDowell (Northern Ireland) -3 |
2008 | Soren Kjeldsen (Denmark) -8 |
Since a flat performance at the Masters in April, the Australian has been consistent in landing six straight top 10 finishes and he looks ripe to finally land a first win of 2023 (after claiming five trophies in 2022). Will Valderrama suit him? He’s played well within trees but Harbour Town (which shares many design features) has not been a happy hunting ground for him.
The American is not in the hot form that saw him win LIV Orlando, challenge at the Masters, and triumph in the PGA Championship but he has now finished top 20 in eight consecutive appearances. He’s never played at Valderrama before but get this: he’s played three times in Spain (all on the Challenge Tour) and two of those weeks ended with him lifting the trophy.
A first visit to Spain for the former World No. 1 who opened the U.S. Open with a sensational 64 before drifting to 10th. In his eight LIV starts in the U.S. he has seven top eight finishes including two wins and two seconds. But in his six LIV starts around the world he has two top eights and a best of sixth.

Sergio Garcia almost certainly does not regret joining LIV but he has struggled with the controversy and it should come as no surprise that his best result (playoff defeat) came in Singapore on a course (Sentosa) that he already had a fine record on.
He needs security, needs to be loved and, if he gets it, he will reciprocate with his golf.
Take the hint and back him on a track he adores.
He’s played Valderrama 15 times and has only once finished outside the top 10 (34th).
He was second there three times in a row from 2004, was third in 2016 and he claimed victory in 2011, 2017 and 2018.
In fact, he’s been the winner in three of his last five starts there.
Back him each way at +1200 with bet365 paying out five places. Read our golf betting guide to learn everything you need to know on how to bet on golf.
Garcia is not alone in this week’s field in having nice memories of the course.
Englishman Ian Poulter won the Volvo Masters at Valderrama in 2004 and has another four top-10 finishes in seven starts.
In 2005 he also started his defense of the title with a 67 to grab the first-round lead and that might be the way to play back this week.
He’s struggled for form since joining LIV but he has gone sub-68 in three of his last four final rounds and made a bright start at LIV Tulsa just two starts ago.
On a favored track he’s worth backing to be the first-round leader at +5000 with Caesars Sportsbook paying five places.
When Englishman Laurie Canter joined LIV he was a bright young thing on the DP World Tour and he has sort of gone missing since.
But two of his last four starts have been top 20s and this might be the venue for him to record another.
Because in 2021 he finished fourth at Valderrama when he had been the three-shot 54-hole leader.
He’s also got a good record in Spain with three top-five finishes in his last four starts.
