The final Group A match of the 2024 Copa America on Saturday evening will determine who will advance to the knockout stage. Canada and Chile will clash for the fifth time ever, with their last meeting occurring in 1995. The concluding group stage fixture will take place at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando.
Canada is coming off a contentious 1-0 victory over a pesky Peru side that made life difficult for Les Rouges. The Canucks were struggling to get anything going in the final third until Peru received a red card. After that reckless challenge led to Peru being down to ten men, the match opened space up for Canada. Jonatan David was able to find the score sheet in the 74th minute registering Canada’s first goal in the last four matches.
Meanwhile, Chile looked like they were going to snatch a point away from the Copa America tournament favorites. In the 88th minute, Chile conceded after Argentina finally broke through with the ample chances they created leading up to the opening marker. Chile played a more defensive style soaking up the pressure and it showed on the stat sheet getting outshot 22 to three.
Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favorite picks for Canada vs. Chile.
The books are expecting nothing to change in the goal-scoring department as this tight Group A is proving to be difficult to breach one past the keeper. The over 2.5 goals is listed at +130 while the under 2.5 goals is priced at -163.

Les Rouges played the majority of the second half up an extra man, despite the circumstances they still needed their goalkeeper to be on high alert. Maxim Crepeau put the world on notice once again with game-saving saves. The 30-year-old made 4 total saves, three of them were by making diving saves. If it were not for Keepers's performance Canada would be entering Saturday's contest in a must-win scenario.
Colorado Rapids' own Moise Bombito's portfolio continues to soar as he put on another rigid defensive performance. The 24-year-old center-back against Peru won 60 percent of his ground duels and had the highest aerial duels won by any Canadian defender winning 44 percent of them.

La Roja are a long way off from the 2015 and 2016 Copa America winning squads that dazzled the pitch. Chile currently ranks 40th overall in the FIFA ranking and has yet to find the back of the net after two matches in the tournament. It’s the first time in three matches that Chile have failed to score in back-to-back games.
Chile is an ageing squad up front and it’s certainly showing on the stat sheet with the lack of offense being produced especially from their all-time goal scorer for their country Alexis Sanchez. The 35-year-old Inter Milan player has failed to score for his country in over ten matches since a friendly in 2023 against Paraguay. In Chile’s setback against Argentina, Sanchez failed to register a shot in 66 minutes of action.
In this do-or-die match for Chile, we could see their veteran leadership help get them over the finishing line to see the next round. Canada just needs to settle for a draw at worst to advance to the quarterfinals. La Roja will have to go for it which could lead to quality goal-scoring opportunities occurring but that said the way these two sides create chances in the final third may hamper their capitalization. We saw Canada even up an extra man had to labor to create anything threatening. Expect Canada to park the bus and clog the middle of the pitch against Chile. The weather could be a factor for both sides as it’s calling to be 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit), and the Florida humidity should play a role in how both teams want to manage and execute their game plans.
