It doesn’t take a Cy Young caliber pitcher to keep runs off the board in the first inning. A lot of strategy goes into NRFI betting, and while it takes a good pitcher, we also look at offensive stats and weather to predict where six outs will occur.
Lucky for us at WSN, the Tuesday slate is loaded, and there are a lot of great matchups to choose from for our NRFI bets. We are looking at the Yankees vs. Athletics and Mets vs. Giants for our best two bets of the day.

On Monday, the Oakland Athletics shocked the New York Yankees, winning 2-0. JP Sears was fantastic for the Athletics, going six innings and allowing just three hits. He also fanned seven batters in the win, bringing his ERA to 3.38.
Sears has been good all season, but his performance against New York wasn’t surprising. The Yankees haven’t found their offensive stride and have lost any momentum they developed since reaching ten wins.
New York has lost two of its past three games and been shut out twice in this span. The Yankees' star hitters, like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, haven’t stepped up this season.
Judge is batting .174 and has only blasted three homers. Stanton has hit five homers, but he is batting .232 this year. The other hitter who hasn’t done much at the top of the order is Anthony Rizzo, who is batting .227.
A struggling New York lineup has to face Paul Blackburn. He is 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. He hasn’t allowed a home run yet, which is perfect for NRFI betting. The biggest threat to an NRFI bet is a home run, and Blackburn has neutralized this danger all season.
Marcus Stroman will pitch for the Yankees, and he has been great. He also doesn’t have to face a great lineup in Oakland. The Athletics have one of the worst offenses in baseball and have only scored 63 runs this season.
The Athletics have been decent on the mound but haven’t won with offense, making this NRFI appealing. Stroman is 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. He has fanned 17 batters in 22.1 innings of work.
Stroman has allowed two homers but generally keeps the ball down in the zone and matches up well against the Athletics.

The Giants shouldn’t be a contender in the National League West race, but they always catch our eye regarding NRFI betting. The NRFI is appealing in San Francisco because it’s a pitcher-friendly ballpark.
New York and San Francisco have relatively scary lineups, but we trust the pitchers, especially with the wind blowing in at Oracle Park.
Luis Severino and Logan Webb have both been very good this season. Severino is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He has fanned 21 batters in 21 innings. His walk rate is high, but he has the ability to get out of innings with strikeouts.
Webb doesn’t have the same strikeout ability, but he is an excellent starter. He tends to fade later in his outings and empties the tank early. He also pitches better at home than on the road.
Webb is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.
