Charleston has won five straight games
Alabama has a 2-3 record in their past five games
Alabama has the best-scoring offense in the country
Alabama was given a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and they will face #13 Charleston on Friday. Both programs have been successful in their respective conferences this season. It will be interesting to see if the unproven Cougars can hang with the top-scoring team in the nation.
Alabama is excellent on offense, but their defense is horrendous. This has hurt them a lot this season, and we expect it to be an issue in the NCAA Tournament.
Here, we will break down Alabama vs. Charleston and give our best bets for the matchup.

Alabama is one of the scariest teams in the tournament if they can consistently shoot the lights out. They finished the season as one of the best offensive teams in the country in many key categories. They average 90.8 points per game, which is the best in America.
The Crimson Tide also ranks 31st in field goal percentage and 10th in free throw percentage. They also managed to stay in the top 30 of both team rebounds and assists.
The fast-paced offense that Alabama has created starts and ends with their star guard, Mark Sears. Sears has been this offense's focal point from the season's first game.
He averages 21.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game. Yet, Sears has struggled down the stretch of games, resulting in losses for Alabama.
The biggest weakness for the Crimson Tide is in the backcourt. The Crimson Tide ranks 356th in the country in total defense. They give up an average of 81.1 points per game.
If Alabama wants to make a run at a National Championship, they must discover a way to stop their opponents. The Cougars provide a good-looking offense that could show Alabama issues down the stretch.
Charleston had an incredible season and this team isn’t satisfied. The Cougars face off against one of the best offenses in the country. Just like Alabama, Charleston's defense hasn’t had many answers for opposing teams.
Both of these teams have much more offensive firepower than defensive strength. One area where Charleston thrives is with their ball control. The Cougars allow just 9.9 turnovers per game which ranks 32nd in the country.
The Cougars have found a way to efficiently spread the ball around while not forcing it to one person. Junior guard Reyne Smith leads the team. He has been the piece to the Charleston puzzle that’s been missing for quite some time.
Smith averages 12.8 points, 1.7 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. The 21-year-old junior is a massive team player, just like the rest of this team.
While Alabama has the top offense in the nation, Charleston ranks 32nd in scoring. At 80.5 points per game, the Cougars are starting to become a household name in college basketball.
Look for Charleston to put immense pressure on the Crimson Tide and force them to make their own mistakes. The Cougars can prevail if they create turnovers.
The Alabama offense has been one of the hardest to slow down in the nation this season. If Alabama plays their game, they will be victorious.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the Crimson Tide at -9 with odds at -110. We believe they will easily cover the spread and advance to the second round.
