The Los Angeles Chargers will look to stabilize their season when they face the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season.
The Jets are riding a three-game win streak thanks to solid defensive efforts and Zach Wilson’s increased ball security. The Chargers are only 3-4 but are coming off a 30-13 win over the Chicago Bears and can get back to .500 with a win.
Here are our favorite player prop betting picks combined into a same-game parlay for Chargers vs. Jets.
Justin Herbert 200+ passing yards
Austin Ekeler over 28.5 receiving yards
Zach Wilson 150+ passing yards
Under 47.5 points
Jets +7.5
Herbert averages 270 passing yards per game and hit more than 200 in all but one game. He managed 298 yards last week and 227 against a strong Dallas Cowboys defense in his earlier Monday Night Football appearance this season, so even though the Jets give up the fifth-fewest passing yards per game (184.4), we expect him to deliver at least 200.
Ekeler should be a prominent figure in the passing game on Monday. The Jets are so strong in the secondary and will honor Keenan Allen so greatly that Ekeler, who caught seven passes for 94 yards last week and has broken 28.5 in three of four games, should come free underneath numerous times. He’s also averaged more than 44 receiving yards per game and is great at picking up yards after the catch.
Wilson is one of the worst QBs in the league, but he only has one interception in his last five games, and the Chargers give up a league-worst 297.4 passing yards per game. Garrett Wilson should have no problem getting open against the Chargers’ porous secondary, and we trust the Jets, who have won primetime matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, to generate at least 150 yards through the air.
We struggle to see this game turning into a shootout. The regular total is 40, and the under is 20-7 in nighttime games this season. We added an extra touchdown for comfort but don’t think the Jets’ offense can score enough to get this game over.
We think the Jets have a great chance to cover or even win, but we like an alternate spread of +7.5 the best. They’re on a three-game win streak and have acquitted themselves well in primetime, while Herbert has two touchdowns and three interceptions in his last three MNF games. Underdogs in games with totals below 42 also cover the spread 61% of the time since 2018, so history is on the side of this leg.
