Teams Going Undefeated or Winless During the 2020/2021 Predictions and Picks

Undefeated or winless seasons are as rare as unicorns in the NFL, though regular-season perfection has been achieved on more than one occasion in the history of the league.

The 2007 New England Patriots had an impressive 16-0 regular season but lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII, and the 1972 Miami Dolphins went the distance undefeated and took home the Lombardi Trophy after winning Super Bowl VII.

The last team to go winless were the 2017 Cleveland Browns, and here we take a look at the predictions and odds of a team going undefeated or winless during the 2020 Season.

Our Pick:

Kansas City Chiefs +2500

Baltimore Ravens +2500

Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs Favorites to Go Undefeated

The key to either of the favorites to undefeated during the 2020 season is their quarterbacks, with both franchises having arguably the best athletes in the league under center.

The Baltimore Ravens have quarterback Lamar Jackson returning for his third season and if his rapid growth and adjustment to the NFL continue at the pace it’s been moving since he entered the league back in 2018, he could very well lead his team to nothing but wins.

The Kansas Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes leading them, the Super Bowl MVP last season who led his team to a much anticipated Lombardi Trophy, and given that the guy can throw the ball with either arm, even when he’s not looking at you, he’s a sure bet to take his team to a lossless season more than anybody.

Editor’s Picks

Going Winless Realistic For Two Teams in 2020/2021

The ultimate shame in the NFL is to win zero games, though plenty of teams have done just that, a dozen, in fact, the last one being the hapless 2017 Cleveland Browns who went 0-16, though their actual losing streak stretched to 0-19 over a few seasons.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are counting on second-year quarterback Gardner Minshew to continue his rapid acclimation to the NFL, the front office hoping head coach Doug Marrone will be able to use their upgraded defense, including rookie linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson and rookie cornerback CJ Henderson, to lead the way to at least one victory this season.

The Washington Football Team is without a team mascot these days, but that won’t be the reason they go winless in 2020 – they must also adjust to a new head coach, Ron Rivera, and make the right choice under center between Dwayne Haskins and the now healthy Alex Smith, factors that could make winning any games this season a challenge.

Long Shots Worth Looking At

The two long shots worth examining for this 16-0 wager are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles, with both teams anticipating a memorable 2020 season.

The Bucs have everyone’s attention because they’ve added GOAT quarterback Tom Brady and GOAT tight end Rob Gronkowski in the offseason, additions that could be the missing link on an already highly talented franchise.

The Eagles are a potential championship franchise once again, with QB Carson Wentz ready to finally have a breakout postseason and the fact that the front office improved an impressive wide receiver corps that already included Jeffrey Alshon and DeSean Jackson with rookie John Hightower gives Wentz and his Eagles a fighting chance to go undefeated in 2020.
