Best MLB Prop Bets Today 03 19 2024

The opening day of the MLB season is in the books, albeit with a few teams still awaiting their first game. Friday marks the start of the first weekend of the season, and we’re not even in April yet. Even with 10 games on the schedule, we managed to find a handful of MLB prop bets to recommend. After all, we went 4-1 on opening day, missing only on a home run prop, so we’re feeling confident. The odds are coming from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is giving new users a chance to receive $150 in bonus bets just for signing up and placing a $5 bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Blue Jays vs Rays (6:50 PM, EST)

Aaron Civale Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-105) at DraftKings)

We're not sure if oddsmakers are giving Civale enough credit with this prop. He was lights-out during the first half of last season in Cleveland but struggled down the stretch with the Rays. However, we’d expect him to settle in more this season. Civale also came close to averaging a strikeout per inning last year, so five innings could easily yield five strikeouts in this game. With a low number and even odds, we’ll take a chance on this.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Pirates vs Marlins (7:10 PM, EST)

A.J. Puk Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-140 at DraftKings)

Most folks probably don’t know too much about Put, who spent last season pitching out of Miami’s bullpen. But he has a chance to be a starter in this league in the long-run. More importantly, the lefty has swing-and-miss stuff. In 56.2 innings last year, Put struck out 78 batters. On Friday, he’ll be facing a Pittsburgh lineup that’s largely unfamiliar with him. The entire Pittsburgh roster has just 13 total at-bats against him. That plays to Puk’s advantage and should allow him to collect a healthy strikeout total.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Rockies vs Diamondbacks (9:40 PM, EST)

Eugenio Suarez Over 0.5 Hits (-210 at DraftKings)

Things got ugly between the Rockies and D’Backs on Thursday with Arizona winning 16-1. Suarez was a part of it with two hits and two RBI. That puts him in a good position to collect another hit in Friday’s game. Not only did he get off to a good start on opening day but Suarez is 5 for 12 in his career against Colorado starter Cal Quantrill. That makes him a safe bet to get a hit and cash this bet on Friday.

Christian Walker Over 0.5 Home Runs (+350 at DraftKings)

The only player in Arizona’s lineup with better numbers against Quantrill than Suarez is Walker. He’s 4 for 9 with two doubles and a home run in his career against Quantrill. That might be a small sample, but clearly Walker makes a lot of hard contact when he’s facing Quantrill. Walker was 2 for 4 with a double on Thursday and has a chance to follow that up with a home run on Friday in what is a favorable matchup for him.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs Mariners (9:40 PM, EST)

Nick Pivetta Over 4.5 Hits Allowed (+130 at DraftKings)

Pivetta put together the best season of his career last year, winning 10 games and posting a 4.04 ERA. But that doesn’t necessarily make him a frontline starter. If the Mariners expect to get more than four or five innings out of Pivetta on Friday, he’s bound to give up some runs. The Mariners have a good lineup that collected eight hits during Thursday’s loss. Players like Jorge Polanco, Cal Raleigh, and Luke Raley all have good career numbers. But those players aren’t even Seattle’s best hitters, which is a good indication that the Mariners can have some success against Pivetta and get at least a handful of hits against him.
