How Can the Nets Beat the Wizards?

The Brooklyn Nets have suffered their worst stretch of the season and it can still get worse. When they face the Washington Wizards, they’ll need to find production across the board to make up for their missing personnel.

In their last game, a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics, the Nets starters were dreadful. While the bench unit posted a combined 70 points, the starters were only able to contribute 21 points to their 91 points total.

Washington are one of the league’s poorer defensive teams. Brooklyn must create a focused team effort on offence to stop their losing streak.

Nets Key Player: (G) Patty Mills

In what was likely one of the most embarrassing losses of his career, Patty Mills was one of the worst players on the court. But he’ll have to rebound quickly, as he’ll need to lead the Nets against and energetic Wizards team.

Mills may have posted one of the worst lines of his career in the Nets’ loss to the Celtics. The Australian international was a team-low minus-47, while posting just 5 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

Without the Nets stars around him, Mills has looked ineffective off the ball. If the veteran guard can’t find his offence, it’ll be 10 straight losses for the Nets.

How Can the Wizards Beat the Nets?

The Washington Wizards have shut down their star player for the remainder of the season. They now enter a crucial game against the Nets, off the back of a blowout loss.

The Wizards are one of the poorer defensive teams in the league, and that showed in their last game. The Wizards allowed their opponents to shoot 56.6% from the field and 56.3% from three-point range.

Washington need to buckle down defensively against the Nets. While Brooklyn have key players out, the Wizards must slow down a well-drilled, ball movement-oriented team to win.

Wizards Key Player: (G) Spencer Dinwiddie

With Bradley Beal out for the season, control of the Washington Wizards goes to veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie. However, to take down the Nets, Dinwiddie will need to improve on what was a poor showing in his last game.

Dinwiddie is coming off of a performance where he posted just 4 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds on 2 of 6 shooting from the field.

If the Wizards still want a chance at the playoffs, Dinwiddie will be crucial to their success. If he can’t create for himself and others, the Nets could still overwhelm them.
