The 2023-24 NBA season is upon us! After a thrilling NBA Offseason and an NBA Preseason that previewed the league’s new-look rosters, the regular season is back, and every game counts!
The first game of the evening features the Denver Nuggets, who will receive their NBA Championship Rings while their first-ever Championship Banner is raised into the rafters. They’ll be hosting LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, whose rehauled roster has been built to make the Larry O’Brien Trophy theirs this season.
The second is a titanic Western Conference matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors. Kevin Durant leads his Suns against a Warriors team he once helped to two championships. Stephen Curry and new running mate Chris Paul set out to prove the Warriors are again championship contenders.
Let’s check out the bets!

Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers had a 52-47 Over Record in 99 games. They hit the over in 52.5% of their games with a Total +/- of +0.8. They were even more successful as the away team, posting an Over Record of 31-18, with a 65.1% success rate and a Total +/- of +3.7. As the underdog, the Lakers hit the over 55.9% of the time, good enough for fourth in the league.
The Denver Nuggets were among the least successful teams at hitting the Over last season, posting an Over Record of 47-54-1 - 25th in the NBA. They hit the over in 46.5% of their games last season, posting a Total +/- of -2.0 through 102 games played. As the home team, Denver hit the over in 43.1% of their 52 matches. As the favorite, the Nuggets were ranked 27th, hitting the over in just 44.2% of their games on a Total +/- of -1.8.
This game will be about controlling the pace, as the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers have differing styles. The Nuggets want to control the game, evidenced by their fifth-ranked offense and 23rd-ranked pace last season. On the other hand, the Lakers sacrificed efficiency for opportunities and volume last season, ranking 20th in offense but third in pace. Expect first-game enthusiasm to play a part and the Nuggets’ offseason losses lending itself to a high-scoring affair.

The Phoenix Suns had a 48-42-3 Over Record last season through 93 games played. They hit the over in 53.3% of their matches, with a Total +/- of -0.4. They were capable as the away team, posting a 24-20-2 Over Record with a 54.6% success rate while improving their Total +/- to -0.1. As Away Underdogs, the Suns were 14-10-1 last season, posting a 58.3% success rate, seventh in the NBA.
The Golden State Warriors posted a 51-41-3 Over Record last season, with a 55.4% success rate with a +1.5 Total +/-. On their home court, Golden State was 20-25-2, hitting the Over with a 44.4% success rate. They are slightly better as home favorites, going 20-20-2 with a 50.0% Over Percentage and a -2.1.
Offense is on the menu when the Warriors and Suns face off on Tuesday night. Both teams are deep with scoring talent, with multiple 20-plus point scorers available. Phoenix is the far better defensive team, but the Warriors’ home court has been a fortress in previous seasons - regardless of quality.
