With two games remaining before the ACC Tournament, the UNC Tar Heels are taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before rounding things out with the Duke Blue Devils. In the Tar Heels most recent game, Saturday, March 2, they won 79-70 at home, but failed to cover their 10.5-point spread. Harrison Ingram led the way with 22 points and six rebounds, while RJ Davis added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Elliot Cadeau also stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, four rebounds, and seven assists.
Now with a record of 23-6, they’re hosting the 12-17 Fighting Irish, who are just 2-8 on the road. Their last road win came on February 21, a 72-50 win over 8-21 Lousiville.

Hosting the Fighting Irish, the Tar Heels will take on a squad led by Markus Burton. Averaging nearly 34 minutes per game, he’s also averaging 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and two steals per outing. Only one other player is averaging double-digit points—Braeden Shrewsberry.
As a result, the Fighting Irish score 348th in the nation, averaging just 63.6 points per game while holding opponents to 65.4 points per game (19th best).
While it hasn’t been a pretty season for Notre Dame, they do coming into this one, having won five of their last six with wins over Clemson, Wake Forest, Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech. Their most recent loss was on the road against Syracuse.
Here, though, they’ll need to fend off an offense that averages 81.4 points per game (22nd), holds teams to 70.4 (111th), and allows a shooting percentage from the floor of 40.6% (23rd), and 31.2% from three-point range (41st).

The Tar Heels have been winning games, but they’ve struggled to cover the spread. While Notre Dame does defend well in terms of points allowed per game, they simply don’t have enough offense here to overcome how well North Carolina performs against shots from the floor and three-point range. This should be close to a 20-point win for the Tar Heels after a recent run from the Fighting Irish.
