Our beginner’s luck at the start of the season still hasn’t run out. We won four of our five MLB prop bets yesterday for a profit of over three units. Obviously, we’re going to try to keep it going on Wednesday. Today, the focus is on hitters, who make up four of our five props. Specifically, the Yankees and Braves have a potentially favorable matchup, including a home run prop. The odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is giving new users $150 instantly in bonus bets for making a $5 bet.

Hendricks has been a total disaster during his first two starts. He’s allowed 10 runs on 17 hits over just 7.2 innings. He lasted just four innings in his last start, so we were shocked to see an over/under of 17.5 out recorded. He would have to complete six full innings to reach that. Given the way he's pitched thus far, the Cubs might pull him after five good innings just to keep his confidence up. It’s not as if he has an easy matchup against the Padres, who have struggled early in the season but have some big bats in their lineup that can give Hendricks a hard time.

Rizzo isn’t off to the best of starts in 2024, hitting a modest .244. However, he's 3 for 8 over the first two games of the Yankees’ series with the Marlins. He's also getting -160 odds to get one measly hit, which is fairly lucrative for a player with his track record. But what got our attention is the fact that Rizzo is 4 for 5 in his career against Miami starter Ryan Weathers. Even in a small sample size, that’s telling. With Weathers off to a mediocre start, we like Rizzo and the Yankees to have some success against him on Wednesday.
Add Soto to the list of Yankees who are set up for success against Weathers on Wednesday. Even though this is another lefty-on-lefty matchup, Soto is 3 for 5 with a home run against Weathers. The two were also teammates for part of the 2023 season in San Diego, so Soto should know him well. More importantly, Soto has six hits and seven RBI in his last four games. He's been crushing it lately, and with the Yankees in a position to have a good offensive performance on Wednesday, Soto’s RBI streak is likely to continue. With these odds, we can’t say no.

We’re trying to pick our spots with home run props this year. Ozuna stands out on Wednesday because he’s 10 for 22 (.455) with two doubles and a homer against New York’s Jose Quintana. That gives him an OPS of over 1.100 in 22 at-bats, which is a great sign of success. Ozuna also has five homers this season, which is tied for third-most in the big leagues. That includes two in his last four games. He’s in a groove right now and part of an Atlanta lineup that has been sensational, so we’ll take our shot with a home run prop.
Albies is another member of the Braves with a good track record against Quintana, who has actually had a promising start to the season. Despite the lefty-on-lefty action, Albies is 6 for 10 with four extra-base hits in his career against Quintana. Albies is also five for 12 in his last three games and has doubled in each of those games. He’s swinging a hot bat and has a favorable matchup, so we’re going to back him for multiple bases on Wednesday.
