The 2023 NFL season has not gone the way that several teams in the league have wanted. The New York Jets (4-5) and the Buffalo Bills (5-5) are two teams that entered the season with serious Super Bowl hype and potential but have ultimately fallen apart due to significant injuries and poor playing performances. This Sunday, The Jets and the Bills will meet for the second time this season and the first since the week one Monday Night Football matchup when Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles.
The Jets escaped week one with a 22-16 home win overtime over the Bills thanks to the tremendous play of their defense. The Jets forced Bills quarterback Josh Allen to throw three interceptions and fumble once.
The Jets have since encountered a three-game losing streak, a three-game winning and are currently on a two-game losing streak. New York is coming off a disastrous 16-12 road loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football.
The Bills have been wildly inconsistent this season. After the loss to the Jets, Buffalo won three games by wide margins, with one being at home to the Miami Dolphins. They went to bounce from one to one loss, but their losses are more remembered. Buffalo is currently on a two-game losing streak with the most recent being a disastrous outcome to the Denver Broncos at home 24-22.

There are several reasons why the Buffalo Bills have been falling apart within the last few weeks of the season. One of the biggest reasons is the consistent turnovers from Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Through 10 games this season, Allen has thrown 11 interceptions. Allen has thrown four interceptions in the first four games, with three coming in the season-opener against the Jets. He has an interception in each of the last six games, with two of them thrown in the loss to the Denver Broncos. He leads the league in interceptions thrown this season.
The Jets have one of the youngest and most talented defenses in the league. They have forced nine interceptions from opposing offenses this season. If Allen hasn’t found a rhythm, he could turn the ball over multiple times once again.

The Buffalo Bills are now the only offense that has been falling apart within the past few weeks. The New York Jets are suffering from a lack of offensive production as turnovers have played the team.
One way to keep the offense from turning over the ball consistently is by allowing the run game to flourish. Running back Bryce Hall has not rushed for over 50 yards since the 31-21 win on the road versus the Denver Broncos on October 8.
Hall will need a chance to create an impact for the offense and potentially help them bring down the Bills’ defense. In the week one matchup versus the Bills, Hall rushed for 127 yards on 10 carries.
He can provide more input again in week 11, especially after the numerous injuries along the Bills’ defense, including linebacker Matt Milano.

The Jets’ offense is often unable to score touchdowns as they have to rely on kicker Greg Zuerlein as a last resort for points. The Jets have only scored 10 offensive touchdowns this season.
In eight games this season, Zuerlein has accounted for 22 field goals and only one missed attempt. He has accounted for two or more field goals in six other eight games played this season. He has accounted for two more or more field goals in five consecutive games.
His best games this season were when he was 4-4 in the 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and 5-5 in the road win versus the Denver Broncos. He has shown to be the most consistent non-defensive player for the Jets this season.
If there is any hope for the Jets to sweep the Bills this season and account for a big road win, they might have to trust the leg of Zuerlein.
