Best Packers vs. Cowboys Prop Bets: Cowboys Look to Erase Bad History in Round One

The AFC and the NFC NFL Playoffs are here, which means 12 of the Top 14 teams in the league are competing in the first round of the playoffs. There are going to be matchups that will make the division winners have to earn their way deeper into the playoffs into the divisional round. These close matchups possess great value for the sports betting world as there are countless ways to make a bet. This is going to be a great opportunity for NFL fans and bettors to make bets to potentially win some significant earnings through DraftKings.

In the wild-card round, the #2 Dallas Cowboys are set to host the #7 seed Green Bay Packers in a game that could test the Cowboys in their Super Bowl potential. The Cowboys are coming into this game as the big favorite, but that has not stopped them in the past few seasons against the San Francisco 49ers. The Packers barely edged their way into the playoffs by securing a spot in the final week of this season. While Dallas has won more games this season and is the more complete team, they're looking to get the monkey off their back against Green Bay, who have won nine of the last 10 matchups.

The Cowboys have not lost many games this season, but when they do, they are not calm. Dallas started the season with two huge wins over the New York Jets and New York Giants but then fell hard as they lost at the Arizona Cardinals, one of the worst teams in the league, with a 28-16 score. Two weeks later, the Cowboys were humiliated by the San Francisco 49ers with a 42-10 score. After the bye week, Dallas won six of their next seven games, including a key matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Then, Dallas was dominated by the Buffalo Bills 31-10 and lost on a game-winning field at the Miami Dolphins. They almost suffered a first loss at home to the Detroit Lions had the officials not made errors in critical times. The Cowboys have one of the complete rosters in the league, led by stars on both sides of the field, but they can get in their own way.

The post-Aaron Rodgers era and the first full season of Jordan Love at quarterback have been up and down this season for the Green Bay Packers. Packer started with two wins in the first three games but fell hard with four consecutive losses, two of them being divisional losses. Standing with an overall record of 2-5, Green Bay was able to win four of the next five games, including the home win over the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs. They finished the season winning three of the last five games as Love showed he could lead this team to great wins.

Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys Best Prop Bets

Pick #1 – Over 98.5 Receiving Yards from Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb (-115) at DraftKings

CeeDee Lamb has been an elite offensive playmaker for the Dallas Cowboys this season and the past few seasons. When it comes to the postseason, lamb has not had many opportunities to carry the offense to success. In the 2021 Wild Card Round 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he was led to one reception (on five targets) for 21 yards.

This past postseason, Lamb caught four receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown in the Wild Card round versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He finally eclipsed 100 yards in the 19-12 Divisional Round loss to the 49ers as he caught 10 receptions for 117 yards.

After a huge potentially all-pro season this year for the Cowboys, lamb is looking to help propel his team deep into a potential Super Bowl run. To do this he will need to have an explosive game against a Packers defense ranked ninth in the league in passing yards allowed per game (206.8) and will potentially see much of cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Pick #2 – Over 0.25 Sacks from Dallas Cowboys Defensive End Dornace Armstrong (+154) at DraftKings

The Cowboys' defense has not had a lot of successful pass rush outside of star outside linebacker Micah Parsons. In 17 games this season, Parsons has had 14 of the Cowboys’ 46 sacks this season. No other player has had more than five sacks account for this season, except one player. That player is backup defensive end Dorance Armstrong junior.

In 17 games this season, Armstrong has only started one game but has accounted for the second most sacks this season with 7.5.  This says a lot about the Cowboys’ pass rush this season as well as highly respected veterans such as Dante Fowler and DeMarcus Lawrence, who haven’t shown elite production.

Armstrong has accounted for a sack in each of the last two final games this season and accounted for 2.5 in the last three games. The Packers possessed an elite offensive line as they have given up only 30 sacks, the third-fewest in the league. They are going to focus on Parsons, which could leave opportunities for Armstrong to create great pressure and make plays in the backfield.

Pick #3 – Over 73.5 Rushing Yards from Green Bay Packers Running Back Aaron Jones (-120) at DraftKings

The Buffalo Bills showed that the defense of the Dallas Cowboys can be beaten, especially in the run game. In the Bills’ win, running back James Cook rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

The Cowboys’ defense is ranked 16th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game (112.4). It has been their Achilles’ Heel in key losses this season as they have shown to be dominated at the line of scrimmage.

Green Bay has not had much success this season running the ball but has established great recent success in the last few weeks of the season. In the last three weeks of the season, Packers running back Aaron Jones has rushed for 358 yards on 63 carries. Jones can give great support to an inexperienced Packers’ offense in the playoffs and take the pressure off quarterback Jordan Love in his first-ever postseason start.
