Best Browns vs. Texans Player Props: Two AFC Teams Compete for Huge Playoff Advantage

Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans Best Prop Bets

There are three weeks left in the 2023 NFL season, which means now is the time to make a final push for the playoffs or for the offseason adjustments. Six teams have already been eliminated from the postseason with three coming from the AFC and three coming from the NFC. Only four teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs, which means there is still plenty more of action left. This is going to be a great opportunity for NFL fans and bettors to make bets to potentially win some significant earnings through DraftKings.

The AFC has been a big surprise for many reasons this season, but the playoff contenders were certainly a surprise. Among the teams that were not fully considered for a playoff spot or potentially competing for Super Bowl title are the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans. Both teams have a solid chance of making the postseason with the win on Sunday. One team has the chance to be a divisional winner while another has a chance to be a very high wild card seeded team.

The Browns started the 2023 NFL season with a 2-2 overall record with their two losses being coming from the AFC North division. They were rebounded in the two games after the bye week with one of them being a 19-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers. After a disappointing 24-20 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Browns would win three more games with two of those games being against Pittsburgh and at Baltimore. As Cleveland continued to shuffle around quarterbacks due to injuries and inconsistencies, they would lose two consecutive games, but rebound by winning their last two games. They're coming off a 20-17 comeback win over the Chicago Bears this past Sunday.

The Houston Texans became the most surprising team in the NFL the season by becoming a legitimate playoff contender with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. Houston started the season with two tough losses but rebounded by winning three of the next four games with one of them being a huge 37-17 road win at the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans came off the bye week with a disappointing 15-13 road loss to the Carolina Panthers, giving them their first win of the season. After that loss, Houston kicked it up another level by winning three consecutive games with one being a huge road game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Houston has won two of the last four games under a brutal schedule and losing rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud to a concussion. Stroud could be back in the lineup after missing week 15 due to the concussion he suffered in the week 14 30-6 loss to the New York Jets.

Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans Best Prop Bets

Pick #1 – Over 244.5 Passing Yards from Cleveland Browns Quarterback Joe Flacco (-115) at DraftKings

The Cleveland Browns have been fluctuating quarterbacks often this season due to injuries and inconsistencies. They are on their fourth-string quarterback in former Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens and practice squad player in Joe Flacco.

In the three games that Flacco has taken over for the Browns' offense, Flacco has completed 77-of-133 of his passes for 939 yards, seven touchdowns, five interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 81.6. He has thrown for over 310 yards in the last two games for Cleveland. The Browns have given Flacco complete control of the offense, as he has had 44 passing attempts in each of the three games.

The Browns are taking on a Texans’ defense that is still looking to develop more. Houston's defense ranks 25th in the league in passing yards allowed per game (239.1). With Flacco having complete trust to carry the offense, he should have another big game for the Browns this weekend.

Pick #2 – Over 57.5 Receiving Yards from Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver Amari Cooper (-115) at DraftKings

In order for the Browns' passing game to be efficient on Sunday, they will need their best wide receiver, Amari Cooper, to account for another big game. Cooper has had a stellar 2023 NFL season, as he has accounted for 61 receptions for 985 yards and three touchdowns.

He has accounted for at least 75 yards in five of the last eight games for the Browns. He has also had four games where he has accounted for at least 100 receiving yards. Cooper is coming off a huge game against the Chicago Bears, where he caught 4 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Outside of second-year cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., the Texans do not have a reliable man coverage cornerback that could limit star receivers like Cooper.

Pick #3 – Over 62.5 Rushing Yards from Houston Texans Running Back Devin Singletary (-115) at DraftKings

The offense of the Houston Texans has been incredibly efficient and dynamic, as their passing game and the rushing game have been connected. Last week, Titans running back Devin Singletary had one of his busiest performances of the year as he rushed for 121 yards on 26 carries.

Singletary has been a huge playmaker for Houston this season, as he has rushed for 711 yards and three touchdowns on 167 carries. He has three games this season where he has been rushed for over 110 yards.

This Sunday against the Browns, Singletary will have his toughest test of the season, regardless of the status of quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Browns are ranked 11th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game (102.2) but have previously been ranked among the top three earlier in the season.

There is a solid chance that Singletary will get more carries to help with the transition of Stroud after coming back from a concussion if he plays. If Stroud doesn't play, the Texans will likely run the ball more to help backup quarterback Case Keenum. Regardless, Singletary should have multiple carries in this game.
