Titans vs. Dolphins Picks, Predictions & Odds MNF Week 14

The final day of a wild Week 14 is set for a big Monday Night that will feature two matchups. These games will have huge playoff implications and a potential test for the more established teams. Among the games is the AFC matchup between the Tennessee Titans (4-8) and the Miami Dolphins (9-3).

The Titans have been at the bottom of a surprisingly competitive AFC South Division for most of the season. Tennessee started the 2023 NFL Season with a 2-2 overall record, with both wins coming at home against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Titans are 2-4 under the leadership of veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Titans like what they see from rookie quarterback Will Levis despite the team going 2-4.

The Dolphins have been among the most explosive and consistent teams in the NFL this season. Miami has started the season with three consecutive games, with one of them being a dominating 70-20 win at home over the Denver Broncos. They should have their limitations in the 48-20 road loss to the Buffalo Bills, the 31-17 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Germany 21-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. After coming off the loss to the Chiefs and the bye week, the Dolphins accounted for three consecutive with cameras taking in all of it on HBO’s Hard Knocks. There is potential for the Dolphins for a Super Bowl run, but they need to show more against great teams this season.

Titans vs Dolphins Predictions

Tennessee Titans vs. Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

The Titans continued to put their support in Ryan Tannehill to lead the offense to start the season. That would be a mistake as he account for a 2-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio in the first six starts to the season. Through the last six games, rookie quarterback Will Levis has a touchdown to interception ratio of 7-to-2. Despite the more efficient play at quarterback, there is still a lack of overall talent in the receiving corps and offensive line. The Titans’ saving grace continues to be three-time Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry, who has helped the offense rank 16th in the league in rushing yards per game (108.9).

The Dolphins’ defense has to be one of the most interesting units in the league. Miami is ranked 20th in the league in points allowed per game (22.2), but they rank in the top ten of passing yards allowed per game (203.6), rushing yards allowed per game (96.6) and total yards allowed per game (300.2). They are a team that will give up some big plays, but then quickly rebound and force a set of turnovers. This is a defense that possesses great depth and talent throughout the position groups.

The pride and joy of the Miami Dolphins this season is the explosiveness and fast play on the offensive side of the ball. Their determination to play with speed and dynamic playmakers have caused Miami to rank second in points per game (32), first in total yards per game (428.4), second in rushing yards per game (143.2), and first in passing yards (285.1). Miami has two legitimate league MVP candidates in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Tagovailoa is only 1,543 yards from 5,000 yards this season. Hill is only 484 yards from passing Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving yards record.

The Titans’ defense is not among the other defenses that other teams at the bottom of the barrel in the league possess. While the defense has been stripped of talent to have on the salary cap, head coach Mike Vrabel continues to build a tough and efficient defense. The Titans are ranked 16th in the league in points allowed per game (21.2) and 14th in rushing yards allowed per game (106.2). Their biggest concern is defending against the passing game where they are ranked 22nd in passing yards (230.8) thanks to continuous injuries.

Titans vs. Dolphins Picks & Predictions

Pick #1 - Over 287.5 Passing Yards from Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (-115) at DraftKings

The success of the Miami Dolphins this season would depend on the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Going into week 14, Tagovailoa has been healthy and nearly perfect as he has been the leader the offense needed.

He has passed over 280 yards in a game seven times this season, including in three of the last five games. Tagovailoa is coming off a nearly perfect game in the 45-15 win at the Washington Commanders where he completed 18-of-24 of his passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns.

The Dolphins are facing a Titans’ defense that is having problems with defending against the passing game. If Tagovailoa can avoid turning the ball over, he should have a great chance at another 300-yard passing opportunity.

Pick #2 - Over 0.25 Sacks from Miami Dolphins Linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (-105) at DraftKings

The Dolphins took a serious blow in the week 12 win over the New York Jets when they lost one of their best pass rushers in Jaelen Phillips. Having to prepare for the game against the Commanders last week, the Dolphins started Andrew Van Ginkel. Kingo was constantly in the backfield of the commanders and was the defensive MVP of the game.

This week, there will be more pass rushers for the dolphins, but the intensity and the need for can't go to have another big game will be the same. He has four sacks in 12 games this season and has the capability of accounting for another with him being a starter.

Tennessee has given up 42 sacks this season, which is the fifth most in the league. They have consistently shown they cannot protect the quarterback no matter who is starting under center.

Pick #3 - Anytime Touchdown Score from Tennessee Titans Running Back Derrick Henry (-105) at DraftKings

As the Tennessee Titans have continued to regress over the past few seasons, one thing has remained the same. Running back Derrick Henry has been the main provider of offensive efficiency for the Titans.

He has been the player that the Titans have relied on while making the switch at quarterback. Henry has accounted for eight touchdowns this season, all on the ground. The Titans have accounted for only 20 total offensive touchdowns this season so there isn't much impact from the other key players.

For Tennessee to have a chance in this game against the high-power Dolphins team, Tennessee will need to power through and have Henry account for a big production game.
