How to Bet on the UEFA Euros Legally

Result Betting

Moneyline

Betting the moneyline is the simplest type of soccer bet. There are three options here. For instance, for the opening game of Euro 2024, you can either back Germany to win, Scotland to win, or a draw. 

Correct Score

If you are feeling particularly confident, you can predict the exact scoreline of a game - say, Germany 3-0 Scotland. I only bet small amounts on this market since it is difficult to accurately predict the correct score.

Spreads

Spread betting is when a sportsbook adds an artificial handicap in an attempt to even out the two teams. For example, when Portugal locks horns with Georgia on June 26, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team will be strong favorites.

As a result, I would be looking at bets like ‘Portugal -2.5’. This means that, for the purposes of the bet, Georgia are 2.5 goals ahead at kick-off. For the wager to be successful, Portugal would have to win the match by three clear goals or more.

Goals

You do not necessarily have to pick an overall match winner when you bet on Euro 2024. You can also predict the number of goals, which sportsbooks usually present in the following format: over 1.5 goals, under 1.5 goals, over 2.5 goals, under 2.5 goals etc.

Both teams to score is another option here. You can even combine the two by backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. This is a bet to consider when two teams with strong offenses meet, such as the Netherlands vs France on June 21.

Parlays

A parlay, also known as an accumulator or acca, is when two or more individual wagers are combined into one bet. By opting for a parlay over two singles, you increase your potential winnings.

I like to use parlays when I am backing the favorites. On June 16, I would expect the Netherlands to beat Poland, Denmark to beat Slovenia, and England to beat Serbia. Three individual bets would each offer a small return. Combining them into a parlay, though, would increase the amount I can win.

Prop Bets

A prop bet is one which does not predict the overall outcome of the game but rather focuses on a specific event within it. My favorite prop bet is the goalscorer market, usually divided into First Goalscorer, Anytime Goalscorer, and Last Goalscorer. On June 17, I will tip France forward Kylian Mbappe to score any time against Austria.

Other prop bets include total corners, team A or B to keep a clean sheet, time of first goal, player X to receive a yellow card, and the half with the most goals.

Futures Bets

As well as betting on individual matches, you can choose a futures market which focuses on the tournament as a whole. I had success in this area at the last World Cup, tipping Argentina to lift the trophy before the action in Qatar got under way.

Another option is to focus on the group stage. For instance, you could back Italy to win Group B, or tip Romania to qualify from Group E.
