Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse led the league in pressures in 2024 with 89.
Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the team in March.
Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson fractured his tibia and fibula last season after recording 7.5 sacks in five games.
The 2025-26 NFL season is quickly approaching. The Hall of Game game kicked off the preseason on July 31.
With that, now is a great time to look at some NFL futures betting markets, including who will lead the league in sacks.
The 2024-25 sack leader, Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals, was holding out for a new deal, but has since reported to training camp just before July ended.
Below, we’ll look at the top odds-on favorites, provide three best bet options, my final pick, and more.

The best time to wager on NFL futures markets is before the season, as value can diminish once stats are recorded.
Below are three options I’d consider:
Aidan Hutchinson: Coming off a fractured tibia and fibula, there’s obvious concern with Hutchinson, but you cannot deny the dominance he’s displayed when he’s on the field. He played in all 17 games as a rookie and in his second season. He had 7.5 sacks over five games before the injury. He’ll be heavily relied on for the Lions and on the field plenty.
Jared Verse: As a rookie, Verse recorded just 4.5 sacks. That said, he led the league in pressures with 89. That’s quite a disparity between pressures and sacks. If he can finish those pressures and turn them into sacks, he has a chance to run away with the sack title in just his second year in the NFL.
Myles Garrett: Garrett finished with 14 sacks in 17 games. He also recorded 83 pressures, tied for the fourth-most in the NFL. He has a new massive contract and is a tried-and-true veteran who always has the potential to lead the league in sacks. He’s one of the most dominant defensive linemen of this generation.

I’m balancing value with upside here. Verse didn’t have many sacks as a rookie, but again, he was only a rookie. He racked up 89 pressures, and he’s on a defense that has multiple players who can wreak havoc and help open up lanes for Verse to tee off. I expect a massive leap forward in the sack department for Verse this season.

In addition to the futures betting market for who will lead the league in sacks, many of the top online sportsbooks provide prop bets for sacks each game, and there are futures markets available with over/under lines for individual players.
For example, you can wager on Nick Bosa’s line of 10.5 sacks at Caesars Sportsbook.
When examining NFL odds for the sack leader or any other market, you’ll come across “+” odds and “-” odds.
When you see “-” odds, these are players more likely to succeed, and the larger the number, the more likely it is. For example, if a player is -1000, they’re more likely, odds-wise, than a player that’s -500.
As for “+” odds, it goes the other way; the larger the number, the more unlikely the player is. If a player is +1500, they’re less likely to succeed than a player who’s +1000.
Now, let’s examine these odds through the lens of winning $100 or wagering $100.
“+” odds indicate how much you’d win on a $100 bet. For instance, if Verse is listed at +1500, a $100 wager would return $1500 in winnings.
“-” odds show how much you must bet to win $100. So, if Verse were -1500, you’d have to wager $1500 just to win $100.
