Global Poker was founded in 2016 to offer players around the US and Canada a fun and low stakes way to play poker online. As a social poker room, there is no financial commitment required to play at Global Poker, even though you can redeem real cash prizes when you play in sweepstakes mode.
Global Poker uses the same sweepstakes format of social casinos and doesn’t require a gambling license like traditional online poker rooms. I’ve spent a week going deep on this site, and in my Global Poker review I'm covering my entire experience on the platform, including the games, bonuses, coins, and much more.

Global Poker provides a straightforward approach to promotions and bonuses, though it's worth noting that the selection isn't as diverse or generous as some might hope for.
Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:
There are essentially two welcome offers. When signing up with our exclusive Global Poker bonus code WSN, you get a free 5,000 GC credited to your account immediately. You’ll be able to check this once you’re on the lobby screen, your balance is in the top right corner and hard to miss. This is a fine balance to begin with, but definitely lacks in comparison to other platforms. I also didn’t receive a notification about this add on so at first I didn’t realize I had received the bonus.
This initial supply doesn’t include any free Sweeps Coins off the bat, which is definitely a pity. As I’m going to get into, there are lots of ways to get free Sweeps Coins at Global Poker, but my favorite no deposit sweepstakes casino bonuses are the ones that provide you with both GC and SC immediately, so you can start playing in both modes right away.
The second offer is a first-purchase promotion. When you sign up and make your first GC purchase of $10, you receive up to 150,000 Gold Coins and an additional 30 free Sweeps Coins. For comparison, normally a $10 purchase will get you up to 50,000 GC and 9 Free SC.
This is a hefty balance to start with at Global Poker and you won’t be running down your funds for a while if you decide to go for this special offer. It’s a good offer, but ultimately it does mean that if you sign up and want to start playing in sweepstakes mode right away, the easiest way is to take this offer. I want to be very clear: it’s not a requirement to play at Global Poker, simply that other sweeps sites make it easier to play for Sweeps Coins immediately. Like Chumba Casino for instance, Global Poker’s sister site, which provides 2 free Sweeps Coins as part of the sign-up bonus.
It’s also worth noting that you’ll have to verify your account right away to make a GC purchase, so this is another obstacle to overcome before you can start playing with SC.
Overall, Global Poker’s welcome offer isn’t the strongest out there. It's one of the most engaging platforms I’ve used in terms of the games but it is definitely lacking in generosity off the bat. If you’re looking for a really valuable welcome offer, Global Poker is not the first site that springs to mind. If you’re happy to make a purchase off the bat, it’s a different story.
Sign up at Global Poker and use the bonus code WSN to receive a welcome bonus. This will give you the above bonus of 5,000 free Gold Coins, as well as a first purchase offer of 150,000 Gold Coins for $10 (200% extra), plus 30 free Sweeps Coins.
Unlike many other online gaming sites, Global Poker does not offer a traditional VIP or rewards program. Instead, players can occasionally claim free Sweeps Coins and participate in opt-in tournaments and challenges. These promotions are available sporadically, so keeping an eye on the promotions page is a good practice.
During my Global Poker review, there were some simple challenges for the casino section I jumped into. All I needed to do was play Hypernova ten times with a minimum of SC1 per spin, and I got two extra free Sweeps Coins. It’s a fun and simple bonus and accessible for anyone who wants to spin a few slots.
While the platform offers every game for free using Gold Coins and the chance to receive Sweeps Coins with purchases, Global Poker lacks daily login bonuses and other frequent rewards that are common at other sites. This limited variety in bonuses and the absence of a rewards program is a downside for players looking for continual perks and extensive promotional offerings.
What I did notice, however, was that I received 200 free GC every time I ran out of coins which allowed me to keep playing for free. This is a nice touch but it's more of a lifesaver feature than a reward.
It’s worth acknowledging here that Global Poker is predominantly a social poker room, and therefore it does make a certain amount of sense that it lacks some of the features of a regular social casino, like a VIP program.
To a certain extent, it makes up for these with certain poker promotions, especially multi-table tournaments with money added or guaranteed prize pools, as well as regular freerolls.
A money added tournament means that Global Poker will top up the prize pool with some extra GC or SC, so there is more money up for grabs. A guaranteed tournament means that, if the prizepool doesn’t reach a certain threshold through players signing up, Global Poker will add the rest out of pocket.
Freerolls are simply tournaments that are free to enter but where you can win GC or SC, depending on which mode you play in. I jumped into a hyper-turbo SC100 Freeroll, which ended up having 95 people in total. I didn’t make it into the prizes unfortunately, but it’s definitely worth checking out. I was also happy to see that there were at least three freerolls per day during the week I spent on Global Poker.
During my time exploring Global Poker, the overall usability of the platform was solid, whether I was on my desktop or trying out the mobile version.
Here’s a deeper dive into my experience on each:
Global Poker’s desktop interface is sleek and modern. When you first land on the lobby screen, you’re immediately presented with two main options in the top left: the Poker Room and the Casino.
The Casino section feels like a traditional online casino, neatly organized with a broad selection of games sorted into categories. Everything here runs smoothly, and I didn't encounter any lag while navigating or during gameplay.
The Poker Room is a bit more basic visually but still functional. It’s easy to jump into ongoing games, although some of the details about each table aren’t immediately apparent until you drill into them.
This being said, there is always a huge choice of ongoing games with different buy-in amounts to choose from, and lots of different poker formats - as I’m going to get into in the next section.
You can select which type of game you would like to play by clicking through the four categories at the top of the screen - Ring Games, Sit’n’Gos, Tournaments and Jackpot Sit’n’Gos - and then finding an ongoing game that suits you.
Another fun aspect is the customizable avatars; I chose one resembling Jack Nicholson with an eye patch, which added a personal touch to the playing experience. Your avatar also serves as the gateway to more administrative functions—you click on it to access a drop-down menu where you can manage your inbox and check promotional messages or your transaction history.
Global Poker doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app, which is a downside, but their website is optimized for mobile browsers. I tested it on my iPhone 14. The experience was decent enough to play a few rounds comfortably, although it's definitely smoother and easier to navigate on a desktop. The site maintained its responsiveness on mobile, and I could access all necessary features without too much trouble.
Overall, the user experience at Global Poker is straightforward and enjoyable. The desktop site is user-friendly with a clean design, making it simple to find and play games. While the mobile experience isn’t as robust as playing on a computer—mainly due to the lack of a dedicated app—it still works well enough for gaming on the move.
The poker room software in particular does a very good job of organizing the huge range of different games and tables happening at any given time. It took me a little while to get used to the software and understand the filter system, but once I did I was very impressed.

Global Poker stands out not just for its robust selection of poker games but also offers a variety of other casino games, creating a comprehensive gaming experience.
Here's an in-depth look at the different categories of games available:
Playing poker at Global Poker is a well-rounded experience with a variety of game formats that cater to lots of different preferences.
My personal game of choice is Texas Hold’em, which is the most popular poker game globally. Despite going on a bit of a losing streak recently, the mechanics of the game were as enjoyable as ever at Global Poker. Thankfully, the 200 GC complimentary bailout that kicks in when your funds dwindle was a lifesaver, allowing me to keep playing without too much frustration.
I found the experience of playing at Global Poker pretty similar to classic real money poker sites like PokerStars - albeit with perhaps a little less sheen. The games work just as well, but the software does feel slightly more basic from an aesthetic perspective. Still, it's a small price to pay to be available in almost every single US state - which sites like PokerStars certainly aren’t.
Omaha and Omaha H/L add another layer of strategy to the mix, where you’re dealt four hole cards and must use exactly two of them along with three community cards to form a hand. The Omaha H/L version adds an interesting twist by splitting the pot between the highest and lowest hands, offering two ways to win. Crazy Pineapple is a fun variation too, starting off similar to Texas Hold’em but with three hole cards, adding complexity and fun as you need to discard one post-flop.
The variety of games at Global Poker also stand out as a highlight. Ring games, for instance, offer the flexibility to join and leave at any time, which suits my sometimes unpredictable schedule perfectly. Sit’n’Gos and Multi-Table Tournaments scale up the competition, starting as soon as enough players have registered or at a preset time, respectively. These games provide a good mix of pace and participation that keeps things exciting.
Ring Games are similar to “cash games” at traditional real-money poker sites. There are 6 max and 9 max tables, and anyone is free to sit and leave as they please. You play directly using your Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins, and when you win a pot you receive your winnings in Coins too. There is no time limit or obligation to play, and you can leave with your stack of GC or SW whenever.
A Sit’n’Go is like a little tournament. In this case, you enter the tournament at the start using Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins and receive a certain number of chips. You play until there is one winner, with the blinds increasing incrementally. At the end, players are paid out in GC or SC depending on their finishing position.
For example, a 6 max Sit’n’Go pays out both first and second, with the rest of the players losing their tournament entries.
Global Poker has 2, 6, 9, 18, and 27 max Sit’n’Go tables, although 6 and 9 man are the most popular. The game starts automatically once a table has filled up with the required number of participants.
Multi-Table Tournaments are similar to Sit’n’Gos only much bigger, with, you guessed it, multiple tables. They also start at a predetermined time, rather than having a limited number of players.
Global Poker also offers “guaranteed” tournaments, where the site guarantees that there will be a minimum amount of Gold or Sweeps Coins in the pot in advance. If enough players don’t register, Global Poker makes up the discrepancy for extra value.
Both Sit’n’Gos and Tournaments are available at a good range of tournament entries, from micro-stakes to high, and with a variety of different blind formats.
Global Poker’s special tournaments, like the Sunday Scrimmage with its substantial prize pool, and the Global Poker Gold Rush with daily, weekly, and monthly leaderboards, offer plenty of opportunities for competitive play. I especially enjoy the sense of ongoing challenge these tournaments provide, allowing you to test your skills against a large pool of players.
The Sunday Scrimmage is one of the most popular tournaments. The weekly No Limit Hold'em tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of 50,000 SC, with a 218 SC buy-in. The Sunday Scrimmage starts at 17:30 ET every Sunday.
The Golden Scrimmage is a gold-only poker tournament that takes place at 17:30 ET every Sunday. The buy-in is 110,000 GC, and the starting stack is 10,000 GC. The overall winner takes home a big pot of Gold Coins, limited edition artwork, and exclusive Global Poker Golden Scrimmage attire. If you make it to the final table, you win a portion of a smaller pot of Gold Coins as well as the limited edition merchandise.
The Global Poker Gold Rush is another fun tournament that includes daily, weekly, and monthly leaderboards. Players compete across all three leaderboards and accumulate points for every winning hand. There are 100,000 Gold Coins up for grabs every day in the daily leaderboard; 500,000 Gold Coins every week in the weekly leaderboard; and 2,500,000 Gold Coins every month in the monthly leaderboard.
The are even more tournaments to get involved in, including the Daily and Weekly Bonanza and the Daily Hundo. With so many opportunities to compete and win prizes, I was never stuck for things to do during my testing.
Overall, the poker games at Global Poker are both fun and engaging, offering enough variety to keep the gameplay interesting. While the promotions might not be the most generous, the gaming experience itself, especially in poker, is satisfying and well-executed. Quite simply, it’s definitely your best bet to play poker socially online in almost every single state in the US.
Global Poker features a diverse selection of 56 slot games, all developed by their in-house design team. These slots cover various themes and styles, providing plenty of choices for those times when you want a break from the poker tables. While the platform doesn’t partner with well-known game providers, the unique selection adds a personalized touch to your gaming experience.
Among these, the platform features 8 jackpot slots, which are a major draw for those hoping to win big. My personal favorite among these was Stampede Fury, a buffalo-run style game with a Western theme. There was big potential for winnings, which unfortunately was not the case for me, but the game was overall easy to play and enjoyable.
Outside of the Jackpot slots, Thunder Strike, an Ancient Greek-themed slot, stood out with its great graphics and soundtrack that really improved the game time. Another slot that caught my attention was Blue Wizard. Its engaging and intuitive gameplay made it a go-to choice for a quick slot session.
In addition to slots, Global Poker offers a selection of 5 table games, including favorites like blackjack, roulette, and video poker. There’s also Solitaire and a few Slingo and Scratch card games. These games are perfect for players looking to enjoy traditional casino experiences alongside their poker play.
The classic Blackjack was well done, easy to grasp and play, but I prefer playing on a table with a live dealer myself. That being said, this is a great place to practice your game with no pressure.
Currently, Global Poker does not offer live dealer games. This is a downside if you’re looking for that real-time casino interaction, but the available digital table games and poker rooms still provide a fulfilling and engaging experience.
Games Verdict
Overall, the poker experience at Global Poker is getting a big thumbs up from me, and the healthy variety of casino games is an excellent compliment.
Global Poker operates as a social casino, which is fantastic because it means you can enjoy all of the games without ever having to risk real money. However, if you choose to buy Gold Coins to enhance your experience, there are several convenient payment options available.
Global Poker Payment Details | |
---|---|
Payment methods | Debit/Credit Card, Apple Pay, Discover Card, Bank Transfer |
Minimum purchase | $2 |
Maximum purchase | $500 |
Minimum prize redemption | 50 SC |
Prize redemption time | 2-3 days on average |
During my time with Global Poker, I tried out a few different payment methods to see how they worked. I used my debit card for a quick purchase of $10, which got me 150,000 Gold Coins and an additional 30 free Sweeps Coins as part of the first purchase promo. The process was seamless and the coins were added to my account instantly.
I later used Apple Pay when I was playing around with the mobile site, and it was even smoother. I’d recommend that if you play on mobile, but I was mostly using the desktop site during my Global Poker review.
For withdrawing, I waited until I had accumulated 50 SC, which is the minimum amount required for redemption. I used a bank transfer for the withdrawal, and the process was straightforward. It took three days for the coins to reflect in my account, which is pretty standard for social and sweepstakes sites but still quite efficient.
Comparing Global Poker to other social and sweepstakes sites, the payment and redemption processes stand up quite well. The range of payment options is broad enough to accommodate most players' preferences, and the transaction times are on par with industry standards.
The low minimum purchase and redemption thresholds also make it accessible for players who don't want to commit large amounts of money, ensuring a fun and low-risk gaming experience.

Finding Global Poker's support page wasn't entirely straightforward. Instead of being in the left drop-down menu, where I would expect to find it, it's located at the bottom of the lobby page, grouped with FAQs and a poker teaching section. The support page itself is basic, featuring FAQs that cover standard queries and a search bar to refine your question. Unfortunately, there's no live or AI chat, which is disappointing. Instead, Global Poker relies on a ticket system.
To submit my inquiry, I first selected a topic—in this case, a general issue verifying my account to claim additional Gold Coins. Then, I entered my username, email, and a detailed description of the problem. I was thorough in providing relevant details to help expedite the resolution, which I know from experience is important and saves time down the line. Although I didn't receive a confirmation email after submitting the ticket, an agent named Mike responded three hours later and clarified my questions, resolving the issue quickly. The level of detail required to submit the enquiry was less than other platforms making it a more approachable process.
One feature that stood out was the Discord server, which acts like a live chat run by the players themselves. Although it's cluttered and constantly buzzing, it's handy for quick answers. My question was answered almost immediately on Discord compared to the three-hour wait for a ticket response. While it doesn't replace an official live chat with trained agents, it's heartening to see the community rallying to help each other out.
The customer support overall is fine. The discord is a step in the right direction but any support system without a live chat or direct phone number loses some points for me.
Global Poker is legal in 44 U.S. states and in Canada, offering its poker games widely and globally; as coined in the name. The restricted states are:
Connecticut
Idaho
Michigan
Montana
Washington
Nevada
Sweepstakes play isn't allowed in Washington and Nevada, while in Idaho, only Gold-Coin play is legal.
More useful information for existing players or players who want to sign up from Connecticut:
From September 16, 2024: No Gold Coin purchases allowed, but players can still play with their existing Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins.
From October 16, 2024: Players won’t be able to play games but can still redeem Sweeps Coins for prizes. Mail-in requests for free Sweeps Coins will also stop.
From December 16, 2024: Players won’t be able to redeem prizes or access the platform.
Despite these restrictions, Global Poker remains a great option for poker players seeking a legal and accessible way to enjoy the game.
The process of signing up for Global Poker is fairly straightforward and took me around six minutes in total. It's very intuitive and doesn’t require much effort.
Here's how I got started and claimed my welcome bonus:
Find the Register Button: On the lobby screen, the white "Register" button is in the top right corner. Give it a click.
Choose a Registration Method: You can create an account manually with a username and password, or sign up through Google or Facebook. I chose Google for what I thought would be a quicker process, but honestly, this probably takes around the same time as entering your email manually because of Gmail’s verification. I just prefer the details being saved on my Chrome tab.
Complete the Details: After choosing my registration method, I created a username, set a password, and selected my state. While there was a small hiccup during mobile verification that sent me back to the beginning, I managed to verify my account and saw my 5,000 free Gold Coins waiting in my account.
(Optional) Verify Account: Next is verifying your account which isn’t immediately necessary for using the platform. It is important to note that before you verify your Global Poker account, certain limitations apply. You won't be able to redeem sweepstakes prizes, and Gold Coin purchases will have strict limits. Additionally, if your total Gold Coin purchases exceed $2,000 within 30 days, your account may be temporarily suspended. Once your account is verified, you'll be able to redeem sweepstakes prizes, and your Gold Coin purchase limits will be significantly increased for 1-day, 7-day, and 30-day periods. This verification grants you full control over your account, including managing purchases and prize redemptions. To verify your identity, you'll need to submit a government-issued photo ID, like a driver's license or passport. Ensure that the ID matches your account information to avoid delays.
Claim the Welcome Bonus: After verification, I could choose to purchase the welcome offer: 150,000 Gold Coins for $10, plus 30 free Sweeps Coins. This option became visible in the balance section at the top right of the lobby screen. With the bonus credited, I eagerly began playing poker using my newly acquired coins.
When you're on the lobby screen at Global Poker, you'll find a prominent gold "Get Coins" button in the top right corner. Clicking on it opens up a range of options for purchasing Gold Coins. The minimum purchase is $2 for 10,000 Gold Coins, while the largest package goes up to $500 for 2,600,000 Gold Coins.
The variety of purchase options ensures players can find the right package to suit their preferences and gaming budget.
Redeeming prizes at Global Poker is straightforward once you're fully verified and have won at least 50 Sweeps Coins. You also need to have used the Sweeps Coins in play at least once before redeeming them, which is a 1x playthrough requirement for any free Sweeps Coins you receive.
To redeem, I clicked the “Get Coins” button in the lobby and switched to the "Redeem Prizes" option at the top of the menu. After selecting it, I followed the instructions to confirm my bank details, which matched the verification documents. I chose direct bank transfer as my preferred payment method and confirmed the transaction.
A notification confirmed my prize request, and within 3 days, the funds appeared in my bank account. The process was smooth and efficient, giving me easy access to my winnings.
Requirements For Redemption
Before you can redeem any coins at Global Poker you must first verify your account. The minimum redemption is 50 Sweeps Coins and you must meet the 1x playthrough requirement before you can redeem.
Global Poker operates as a social and sweepstakes casino, which means it uses a distinct system compared to traditional real-money poker rooms. Instead of depositing money directly to play, Global Poker uses two types of virtual coins: Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins.
Gold Coins are similar to play money used purely for entertainment purposes, with no possibility of redeeming prizes. They hold no value outside of the platform, allowing players to join games for fun or practice their poker skills without spending actual money.
Sweeps Coins, on the other hand, are obtained through promotions or sometimes as a free bonus when purchasing Gold Coins. Although you can't buy them directly, you can use them to enter poker games, and winnings can be redeemed for cash prizes. Players must complete account verification and meet a playthrough requirement before they can redeem their Sweeps Coins.
While real-money poker rooms require players to deposit cash directly and use it to play, Global Poker offers an accessible, legal alternative via its sweepstakes structure. This setup allows players in the U.S. and Canada to enjoy online poker games while complying with gambling regulations in most jurisdictions.
Legal States
Regular online poker is fully legal and regulated in 8 US states, and even amongst them there are drastically different laws surrounding how it works. In contrast, Global Poker does not require a gambling license and is legally available in 45 states.
Global Poker prioritizes responsible gaming and provides some of the most intuitive measures for self-exclusion and taking a break that I've seen, which is a major plus for me. Simply open the tab in the drop-down menu from your avatar icon, click on "Responsible Gaming," and quickly choose a time period to limit your gameplay.
Take a Break: A self-imposed block that can last from one day up to 30 days. You can choose specific games to block, or exclude yourself from all games and purchases. If you're registered for a tournament, you'll be automatically removed if taking a break from poker.
Self-Exclusion: A more comprehensive block on all games and purchases that can last from six months to an indefinite period. During this time, you'll be barred from all gaming and purchase activities. The exclusion is final and can't be revoked, except for an indefinite exclusion, which can be reviewed by contacting support.
Purchase Limits: Upon registration, a 30-day purchase limit is applied, which increases after account verification. You can set a cap on how much you spend on Gold Coins over 1-day, 7-day, and 30-day periods. If you reduce a cap, it takes immediate effect, while increasing a limit requires contacting customer support.
Global Poker's Responsible Social Gameplay Policy also encourages a reasonable approach to gaming. Remember that it's against their terms to create or play on multiple accounts.

After spending some time on Global Poker, my overall impression of the platform is very positive from a purely poker standpoint, but with some room for improvement more generally.
The user interface is user-friendly, making navigation simple for both new and experienced players. Signing up is straightforward, letting you dive right into the action without any fuss. The games themselves are enjoyable and engaging, offering a substantial library with a wide variety of options, whether you're looking to play poker or other casino games.
However, when it comes to promotions, Global Poker could do better. While there is a decent first-purchase offer, the overall range and generosity of promotions don't quite match up to what you might find at other online platforms. The promotions exist but aren't particularly diverse or attractive.
Customer support at Global Poker is fairly basic, primarily relying on a ticket system that can feel slow compared to the immediate responses facilitated by live chat services found on other sites. However, they compensate slightly with a unique feature: a Discord community where players can get quick peer-to-peer help, which adds a nice touch of interactivity and support among users.
In summary, while Global Poker offers a fun and accessible platform with an easy sign-up process and a wide array of games, it falls a bit short in terms of promotional variety and robust customer support. All that said, it’s easily my number one recommendation for playing social poker in the US, and I loved diving into all the different poker tables during my review.
