Global Poker at a Glance

Global Poker is a social gaming site, where you can play poker online totally free. There are a variety of different poker formats available, with absolutely no purchase necessary to jump into a game.

Similar to other social casinos, like Chumba Casino and Fortune Coins Casino, Global Poker allows you to play with two separate virtual coins – Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins.

Gold Coins are just like play money and have no value outside of Global Poker.

You can also purchase additional Gold Coins, and if you do you’ll often receive some FREE Sweeps Coins. Sweeps Coins can also be used to play games, and your Sweeps Coins winning can be redeemed for cash prizes.

Keep reading for the full Global Poker review.

Global Poker

Yes.

Global Poker uses a sweepstakes model for all its games and is legally available in most of the US and Canada. At no point can you play with real money, and you can never purchase Sweeps Coins.

Although they share some practical similarities, Global Poker is totally different from real money poker sites like PokerStars or partypoker from a legal perspective.

Global Poker Bonus

Bonuses are a big part of playing at Global Poker. Every game on the site can be played for free using Gold Coins, and if you decide to purchase more Gold Coins you’ll very often receive some Sweeps Coins as well.

Visit Global Poker for more details on their welcome offers.

Global Poker Player

Global Poker doesn’t have a VIP program or player rewards program in the traditional sense. However, there are regular opportunities to claim FREE Sweeps Coins, and opt-in tournaments and challenges available.

Signing up at Global Poker

Getting your account set up at Global Poker is very straightforward and only takes a minute or two. You can click the “Register” button on the homepage to get started.

You can either sign up via your existing Facebook or Google accounts or manually create your Global Poker account using your email address. If you choose that option, you’ll just need to type in your email address and choose a unique password. An account verification link will be sent to your email, and after clicking it you’ll get to select a screen name and your home country and state.

Once you’ve set up your verified account you’re good to go! You can log in with your details and start playing right away with your complimentary Gold Coins, or purchase some additional Gold Coins and get some FREE Sweeps Coins.

Global Poker Software

Global Poker is a very well-designed site. It’s fairly simple on the whole, but that is no bad thing for a social poker site that has quite a lot of information on screen, and different types of games.

Compared with social casinos like Chumba Casino and Luckyland Slots, there’s no question that Global Poker feels like it has the most well-developed software.

The home screen is split up into tabs with the different types of games on offer – ring games, tournaments, Sit’n’Go, jackpot Sit’n’Go and surge. The majority of the real estate on the screen is taken up with all the different tables and games themselves.

You can check out your profile from the button on the left, and purchase additional Gold Coins by clicking the button on the right-hand side. You can browse all the different offers, as well as check your challenge history, leaderboards, and more.

All in all, the software works very well.

Global Poker is also available on mobile for both Android and iOS users.

Games at Global Poker

Global Poker has a good range of poker games on offer, including lots of different formats and stakes, and even some slots and table games. Here’s the full story.

Game Formats – Texas Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Crazy Pineapple

Global Poker lets you play in four main poker formats: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha H/L, and Crazy Pineapple.

Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker format in the world, and requires no introduction: Each player receives two hidden hole cards and aims to make the best 5-card hand using them and the five community cards.

Omaha is similar, only instead of two hole cards, players are dealt four. In Omaha H/L, the pot is split in two and paid out to both the best hand and the worst hand respectively. Crazy Pineapple is historically less popular, but it proceeds similarly to the other games except players receive 3 hole cards.

The games can be played at no limit, fixed limit, and pot limit, although some are more widely available than others. There is also a good variety of tournament entry limits. For example, you can find Ring Games with blinds as low as SC0.01/0.02, and up to SC10/20.

Ring Games

Ring Games are similar to “cash games” at traditional real money poker sites. There are 6 max and 9 max tables, and anyone is free to sit and leave as they please. You play directly using your Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins, and when you win a pot you receive your winnings in Coins too. There is no time limit or obligation to play, and you can leave with your stack of GC or SW whenever.

Sit’n’Gos

A Sit’n’Go is like a little tournament. In this case, you enter the tournament at the start using Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins and receive a certain number of chips. You play until there is one winner, with the blinds increasing incrementally. At the end, players are paid out in GC or SC depending on their finishing position.

For example, a 6 max Sit’n’Go pays out both first and second, with the rest of the players losing their tournament entries.

Global Poker has 2, 6, 9, 18, and 27 max Sit’n’Go tables, although 6 and 9 man are the most popular. The game starts automatically once a table has filled up with the required number of participants.

Multi-Table Tournaments

Multi-Table Tournaments are similar to Sit’n’Gos only much bigger, with, you guessed it, multiple tables. They also start at a predetermined time, rather than having a limited number of players.

Global Poker also offers “guaranteed” tournaments, where the site guarantees that there will be a minimum amount of Gold or Sweeps Coins in the pot in advance. If enough players don’t register, Global Poker makes up the discrepancy for extra value.

Both Sit’n’Gos and Tournaments are available at a good range of tournament entries, from micro-stakes to high, and with a variety of different blind formats.

Slots and Table Games

Global Poker is mostly focused on poker, but it does also have a small handful of casino-style games which are great if you want a change of pace from poker.

There are 14 different slots, all created by Global Poker’s in-house design team, as well as blackjack, roulette, and video poker.

As we said, it’s a small selection but a welcome addition. If you’re interested in more social casino games, check out Chumba Casino or Luckyland Slots.

Purchasing Coins at Global Poker

You can play every single game at Global Poker totally free, with no requirement for tournament entries or to purchase anything, for either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins. If you want, you can also purchase additional Gold Coins, for which you’ll often receive some FREE Sweeps Coins.

Winning Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for cash prizes. Gold Coins have no value, and can’t be redeemed for anything.

Purchasing Gold Coins at Global Casino is a breeze.

You can click the yellow “Get Coins” button on the top right-hand corner of the page to see the different options. New players get a special offer on the $20 Gold Coin option, where you’ll receive GC200,000 and a free SC40, and there are other purchase options at a range of values.

In order to purchase Gold Coins and later redeem Sweeps Coins, you’ll need to first verify your identity with Global Poker. You’ll need to provide your full address and date of birth, as well as a phone number which will be confirmed via SMS code.

You’ll also have to send Global Poker some personal documentation, including the following:

  1. A copy of your primary photo ID (passport, driver’s license, state or national ID).
  2. A supporting document including proof of address (utility bill, bank statement)
  3. A “source of wealth” document (payslip or bank statement).

Once these docs have been submitted and verified, you’re good to go.

Gold Coins can be purchased via credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, or American Express, or via Skrill. Paying for your Coins is just like any other transaction, and is completed in seconds.

PayPal is no longer an option for payments but you can easily use Skrill instead.

How to Redeem Prizes at Global Poker

Again, you’ll have to be fully verified in order to redeem your Sweeps Coins for prizes, and you’ll also need to have at least SC50 in your account.

You also need to play with your Sweeps Coins at least once before they can be redeemed – basically a playthrough of 1x applied to any FREE Sweeps Coins you receive.

Redeeming your Sweeps Coins is a simple process. Your cash prize is transferred directly to your bank account, which should correspond with the documents submitted for verification.

You can find the “Redeem Prize” button in the Global Poker menu. Follow the simple instructions, and your transfer should arrive within 3-5 business days.

Global Poker Customer Support

Global Poker’s model will be new to lots of people and there is a very useful FAQs list in the Help Center which answers all the most common questions and does a great job of explaining how the site works in general. We recommend that as your first stop for any customer support issues.

If you want to get in touch with Global Poker, you can do so via email at [email protected].

You should get a fast response from the support team, who are ready to help with anything you need. You can also contact Global Poker on social media, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Unfortunately, there is no live chat support available at the moment, which is something Global Poker could improve on.

How Does Global Poker Make Money?

Every single game at Global Poker is available to play totally free, either with Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins. This has led some people to naturally wonder how the site makes money.

The answer is simple: Global Poker also lets you purchase additional Gold Coins, if you want. There is no obligation to purchase, and you don’t get any special benefits or additional access by doing so. This is how the site makes money, in a nutshell.

When you purchase Gold Coins, you’ll often receive FREE Sweeps Coins. And, as we’ve covered, you can redeem your Sweeps Coins winnings for cash prizes.

Is Global Poker Trustworthy?

Yes. Global Poker is run by Virtual Gaming Worlds, the same company behind other popular social sites like Chumba Casino and Luckyland Slots. All of these platforms run under a sweepstakes model. All of the games are available totally free, and Sweeps Coins can never be purchased, only received as part of a free offer.

This model enables Global Poker to operate freely in most US states (Washington is the exception) and in Canada by adhering to sweepstakes laws.

Virtual Gaming Worlds is a European company originally and is headquartered in Malta. It also has a gaming license from the Malta Gaming Authority.

Should I Play at Global Poker?

Absolutely. Global Poker lets you play poker games online totally free in almost every state in the US, as well as redeem real cash prizes when you win Sweeps Coins. Compare this with traditional online poker sites, which are significantly more restricted, and it’s clear why Global Poker is such a winner.

Social casinos, like Global Poker, Chumba, and Luckyland, are changing the game and bringing free casino-style games to the masses. Don’t sleep on them.
