Need a little help finding a bet on Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Erickson Lubin? World Sports Network (WSN) publishes the thoughts of former professional boxer and respected boxing betting writer, Frankie Monkhouse. Keep reading as our expert unpacks the recent form of both warriors, shows the best markets, and reveals where to find the highest odds.
Picking a winner in the fight-winner market is the simplest and most popular way to gamble on professional boxing. Choose the warrior you expect to win, click their odds to add to your bet slip, input a stake, check, and confirm. Your wager is now live.
If your fighter does as expected and wins—regardless of the method—you’ll land the prize. If the opponent wins or the bout ends in a draw, your bet loses, and the bookie keeps your stake. You can gamble on one fighter as a single or add several picks from the fight card to create a parlay. Three or four selections give you a chance to win big off a small stake.

Call the number of rounds in the totals, the winning round, or group round betting. There’s also my personal favourite, the method of victory.

Vergil Ortiz Jr enters with a perfect 23-0-0 record, claiming all but two of those victories inside the distance. The 27-year-old from Texas is currently ranked number three in the world at the weight, behind current leader Jaron Ennis. Win on Saturday in good fashion, and Ortiz Jr hopes to get closer to a meeting with the main attraction. Victory on Saturday would pave the way for some blockbuster fixtures in the first half of 2026, and that’ll be the driving force behind Vergil’s training camp and preparation.
Despite his CV showing Ortiz Jr has covered the distance only twice, both were in his last two outings. He went 12 rounds with Serhii Bohachuk in Las Vegas and then beat Israil Madrimov by the same method in Saudi Arabia. A 93% knockout average shows Vergil can punch, but has the skills and ring IQ to beat two high-ranking opponents on the cards, proving Ortiz Jr can also box. He’s the complete package and plans to show it here. A win for the champion will be a popular choice with bettors, as will another points victory.

Erickson Lubin arrives from Florida with a 27-2-0 record. The 30-year-old southpaw boxer is ranked fifth in the United States at super welterweight and seventh in the world. Both will improve considerably if he beats Vergil Ortiz Jr on Saturday and takes the interim belt back to Kissimmee. A win of any description will do for Lubin. As the challenger, there’s not the same pressure on him to impress as we have with the champion.
Lubin has lost two of his previous 29 starts. The first loss came early in his career when Jermell Charlo stopped him inside a round in Brooklyn. His second loss was inflicted by Sebastian Fundora inside nine rounds in Las Vegas early in 2022. Since then, Lubin has fought three and won three, scoring a pair of knockouts in the process. His most recent bout ended in a late stoppage win over Andreal Holmes Jr in Florida. Does Lubin have what it takes to upset the odds and grab a 28th win in 30 fights? He’s certainly confident enough.

Ortiz Jr vs Lubin has all the ingredients of a fantastic fight. Both men have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The victor will leave with the interim belt, of course, but victory paves the way for some mouth-watering and money-spinning fights in the new year. One man will advance, while the other will head back to the drawing board to contemplate his future.
I’m siding with Ortiz Jr in this contest and will follow the form when picking him to win on points. He has the fitness, experience and skills to impress the judges. Neither man will go on the front foot early, but Lubin will eventually have to force the pace to dethrone the king. It’s then that Ortiz’s boxing skills will stand out. He’ll use his fast jabs and combos to win.
