Young Chelsea Team Looking to Take Another Step Forward

The 2024/25 season was a turbulent one for Chelsea, featuring more than its fair share of ups and downs. In the end, though, everything worked out pretty well. The Blues finished fourth in the Premier League, which means they will be in the Champions League next season.

After a major dip in form in the middle portion of the campaign, Chelsea came good at the end. As such, they have some momentum behind them heading into the Club World Cup. They are not among the outright favorites to win this competition, but Chelsea are definitely contenders.

The Blues recently won the Conference League and they would love to add another trophy to the Stamford Bridge cabinet over the next few weeks.

LAFC Should Not Be Written off Entirely at This Tournament

Los Angeles FC only booked their place at the Club World Cup a few weeks back, beating Mexican outfit America in a play-off to determine the 32 and final entrants to the tournament.

LAFC have had success at MLS and CONCACAF level over the last few years, but this is another level entirely. They will have to show they can compete against teams from outside the continent, starting with Chelsea.

But the draw for the group stage was not as tricky as it might have been, with Esperance de Tunis and Flamengo the other teams in the group. Flamengo should go through alongside Chelsea, but LAFC are not entirely out of contention.

Chelsea Should Prove Too Strong But LAFC Can Find the Net

Chelsea have found a decent groove under Maresca. The jury is still out on the manager among the club’s fan base, but there are signs that he is starting to get things together.

That is bad news for LAFC, who will have to try and stop Chelsea here. Perhaps the afternoon heat in Atlanta will work in the MLS team’s favor, slowing down Chelsea’s possession game.

Overall, though, Maresca’s men should come out on top, perhaps in a game featuring goals at both ends.
