NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Anthony Edwards, VJ Edgecombe & More Picks for Sunday, Nov. 9

The NBA is back in action on Sunday, and I’ve picked the best player props from around the Association.

Trey Murphy III dropped 41 points and nine rebounds for the New Orleans Pelicans last night, but Victor Wembanyama's 18 points and 18 rebounds were enough to guide the San Antonio Spurs to victory. Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic put up 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists as the Denver Nuggets beat the Indiana Pacers.

There are seven games on Sunday, headlined by a matchup between the Houston Rockets and the Milwaukee Bucks in the early slot.

Here are my top five NBA player prop bets for Sunday, Nov. 9.

NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Anthony Edwards, VJ Edgecombe & More Picks for Sunday, Nov. 9

Giannis Antetokounmpo under 30.5 points (-120) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Greek Freak put up 41 points in his last outing against the Chicago Bulls, leads the league in scoring, and went over this line in six of eight games this season. So, naturally, you might be wondering why I love him to go under this total against the Rockets. That’s a fair question.

The Rockets are eighth in points allowed per game and points in the paint allowed per game. They have tons of size on the interior with Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams, and they also have athletic wings that can wall up to stop Antetokounmpo’s downhill momentum. Houston held him to 20 and 27 points in their meeting last year, and I expect something similar to play out.

Santi Aldama under 5.5 rebounds (+100) at FanDuel sportsbook

The Memphis Grizzlies are taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are only 25th in rebounds allowed per game. Despite that, Aldama had a 50/50 split of this line when the teams matched up last year, collecting five and six rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game.

Aldama is getting about that same amount of work per night this time around, but he went under in four straight games. OKC also has Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren patrolling the interior, and they climbed to 14th in rebounds allowed per game over their last five contests.

Jimmy Butler over 5.5 rebounds (-110) at FanDuel sportsbook

Butler only managed three rebounds in Friday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets. He had four in the game before, but that was in just 14 minutes against the Phoenix Suns, and he cashed the over with six boards when he played the Indiana Pacers last Saturday.

With a rematch against the Pacers on the docket for Butler and the rest of the Golden State Warriors, I expect him to deliver an over. The Pacers play at a quick pace and are 26th in rebounds allowed per game, and Butler showed that he has the capability to cash the over the last time that these adversaries faced off.

VJ Edgecombe over 15.5 points (-118) at FanDuel sportsbook

Following an incandescent start to his NBA career, the young Edgecombe has hit a stumbling block, scoring 12 or fewer points in three straight games and averaging 34 percent shooting from the field and 22.2 percent from three in four games in November. Considering that the Detroit Pistons are also second in points allowed per game, it’s understandable why this pick might appear questionable.

The real reason I love Edgecombe to go over this line is that he’s still attempting 14.9 field goals per game, and he’s naturally going to regress to shooting the ball better than he did in his recent outings. The Philadelphia 76ers are also going to be without Joel Embiid, which will give Edgecombe more license to take more shots during Sunday’s matchup.

Anthony Edwards over 28.5 points (-108) at FanDuel sportsbook

Excluding a game that Edwards left after just a couple of minutes because of a hamstring strain, he went over this line in three of four games and averaged 31 points per game. He also shot 51.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point territory, and he’s about to face a Sacramento Kings squad that allowed the second-most points per game.

The juice is on Edwards to go under this line, but he’s demonstrated a consistent ability to go over, and he’s about to take on one of the most favorable matchups in the league. He also went over this line in three of four matchups with the Kings last year, while the Kings gave up 132 points in their last game (including two 30-point scorers, Hartenstein and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander).
