It’s time to close out the week the right way, which is why I’m here to share my top NBA player prop betting picks for Friday.
LeBron James’ double-digit points streak came to an end last night, marking the first time since Jan. 5, 2007, that he failed to score 10 points. At the same time, his game-winning assist and Austin Reaves’ 44 points and 10 assists helped the Los Angeles Lakers take down the second-place Toronto Raptors.
The Lakers are doubling back to face the Boston Celtics in the early game tonight, while the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks will close out the evening on Prime Video.
Here are my best NBA player prop picks and bets for Friday, Dec. 5.

Reaves was not only sensational last night, but he has been all year, and he’d be an All-NBA member if the season ended today. In regard to this line, he made at least four threes in three of his last four games, including last night, when he sank five of 11.
Although the Boston Celtics have not done a great job of guarding the three-point line this season, Reaves is up against it tonight. Rui Hachimura said that Reaves told him yesterday that he was tired, and now he’s on the second night of a back-to-back without Luka Doncic (and probably LeBron James) after just playing 41 minutes. That points to him going under.

Johnson is having a breakout season and will receive All-Star consideration when the time comes. He also had at least 12 rebounds in three straight games, but he’s about to encounter a Joker-sized issue on Friday evening.
The Atlanta Hawks are taking on the Denver Nuggets, who rank third in the NBA in rebounds allowed per game and are in the bottom 10 for pace. Johnson does a tremendous job of using his length and athleticism to out-jump wings and guards, and even some big men, but he doesn’t have the brawn to move Nikola Jokic off of his spot. That was proven the last time these teams played in April 2024, when Johnson had six boards in 34 minutes.

Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing to host the San Antonio Spurs in an exciting cross-conference showdown. Cleveland’s star guard is currently fourth in the NBA in scoring, putting up 30.7 points per night on 50.6 percent shooting.
Mitchell beat this line in three of his last four games and had 33 points despite a relatively poor shooting night on Wednesday. He gets a ton of volume, particularly from three, and the Spurs are below league-average in points allowed per game and exactly average in three-point defense.

Kuzma is a very inconsistent player who has fallen quite a long way since he was the third option on the Lakers’ 2020 championship-winning squad. He went under this line in four straight games, but he could have stumbled onto an unexpected opportunity.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to miss 2-4 weeks with a calf strain, meaning Kuzma has a clear path to getting onto the floor. He had 12, six, and four rebounds in recent games in which he played more than 25 minutes, and the Philadelphia 76ers are 23rd in rebounds allowed per game over their last 10 appearances.

No Devin Booker—the Phoenix Suns’ team leader in assists at 6.7 per game—means that Gillespie, who averaged 5.0 assists per game, should spend a lot of time with the ball in his hands. That could be a double-edged sword and increase the Suns’ chances of being blown out, but it also means he’ll get opportunities, if nothing else.
Gillespie hasn’t consistently gone over this line, but he’s been fairly close to it. The Houston Rockets are one of the stingiest teams in the league on defense, but Gillespie should be charged with creating a hefty amount of the Suns’ offense.
