It’s day two of the NBA Cup quarterfinals, and I’ve cooked up my best player prop picks and bets for the matchups.
The Orlando Magic took down the Miami Heat behind 37 points and six rebounds from Desmond Bane in the early game last night. Later in the evening, Jalen Brunson’s 35 points powered the New York Knicks past the Toronto Raptors in a game that was out of hand by halftime.
Tonight’s matchups feature the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder against the Phoenix Suns, before the Los Angeles Lakers host the San Antonio Spurs to close out the night.
Let’s not waste any more time. On a day where the NBA world’s attention is focused on two elite matchups, here are my best NBA player props, bets, and picks for the In-Season Tournament quarterfinal on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Normally, I approach these picks with as much statistical backing and evidence as I possibly can. I’ll be honest and say that for this pick, all of that is going out the window, and I’m relying on gut instinct and the nature of the matchup.
Booker was held to 20 or fewer points in three matchups with the Thunder last season, and he went under in four of his last five games, not to mention this is his first game back from a groin injury. With all of that being said, I don’t think the Suns can afford to run their offense through anyone else because of the Thunder’s defensive excellence, and he should take more shots than usual given the magnitude of the NBA Cup stage.

Williams went over in two of his last three games and dropped 25 points on the Utah Jazz in his last contest. He only played 27.3 minutes per night in December, but that’s largely been because his team has been blowing out its opponents, not because he’s on a minutes restriction post-injury.
The Suns have a nice defense and rank eighth in points allowed per game over their last 10 outings. However, if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets going, Dillon Brooks could draw the assignment, leaving Williams to feast with whoever matches up with him.

Having Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves on the court together makes it very easy for the Lakers to create matchup advantages against their opponents. That will predominantly benefit Ayton, who can punish aggressive coverage with his rim-runs or shoot over smaller switch defenders.
The Spurs don’t have Victor Wembanyama in the paint, and they’re 24th in points allowed per game over their last 10 contests. Luke Kornet is a solid backup big man, but Ayton is a much better player and went over in seven of his last 10 games.

The King has definitely been alleviated of his usual playmaking responsibilities, but he still averaged 7.6 assists per night and went over this line in four of seven games. The Spurs have also been leaky on defense recently and ranked 26th in average assists allowed during their last 10 games.
Doncic and Reaves are both having terrific years as scorers, and as mentioned above, the lob to Ayton is frequently open. Wembanyama isn’t there to close down passing lanes by himself, and I think there will be enough opportunities available to cash this over.

Doncic concedes blowbys at one of the highest rates in the NBA, and Reaves, while scrappy and fearless, isn’t a good defender. Fox’s burst and quickness in the lane will force the Lakers’ weakside defenders to pin in, causing rotations that lead to open looks for teammates.
While the Lakers are 15th in points allowed per game, they’re also 24th in assists allowed per game. That’s a representation of the scenario outlined above, and is why Fox, who went over in seven of his last 12 games and averaged 6.5 assists per night, has a path to the over.
