NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Stephen Curry & More Picks for Wednesday, Dec. 31

As the world waits for the ball to drop in Times Square, these are the best NBA player prop picks around for Wednesday.

Cade Cunningham poured in 27 points and 11 assists in a dominant win against the Los Angeles Lakers last night, while Ja Morant scored a season-high 40 points to help the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime.

Today’s games start early, with the Golden State Warriors visiting the Charlotte Hornets at 1:00 p.m. ET. The best game of the day is an NBA Cup final rematch, which will see the San Antonio Spurs host the New York Knicks.

Happy New Year’s Eve! These are my top NBA player prop picks and bets for Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Best NBA Player Props Today 2025 12 31 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Stephen Curry Over 28.5 Points (-108) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Curry is going back to the city where he grew up on a special holiday. He and the Warriors will be adjusted to the Eastern time zone since they already played games against the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors, and he’s only a few days removed from scoring 39 points.

The Hornets have been subpar on defense over the last few weeks, and Curry should be relishing the opportunity to get a game out of the way and to go celebrate with his loved ones. He went under this line in five of his last six, but he still averaged 30.6 points per game in December.

Julius Randle Under 6.5 Rebounds (-118) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Randle quietly had 25 assists in his last two games, but he also had eight total boards in those contests. He has now gone under this line in three of his last four and averaged just 6.2 rebounds per game in December despite being at 7.0 for the year.

The Atlanta Hawks are only 25th in rebounds allowed per game over their last 15 outings, which sounds inviting to someone like Randle. However, Trae Young is questionable for this contest, and his absence would allow the Hawks to get bigger bodies on the floor. Even if he plays, rebounding on the wings is where the Minnesota Timberwolves could find the advantage, as Randle will still have to contend with Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu, among others.

Stephon Castle Over 17.5 Points (-108) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The reigning Rookie of the Year beat this number in four of his last five games and averaged 20.0 points on 51.1 percent shooting in December. He only scored 15 points when these teams met in the NBA Cup final on Dec. 16, but he also shot an uncharacteristic 33.3 percent from the floor in that game.

While the Knicks get credit for playing stout defense, they’re still 10th in points allowed per game over the last few weeks—solid, but not dominant. Castle’s regression to the mean in relation to efficiency, combined with the attention that will have to be paid to Victor Wembanyama now that he’s playing more minutes, gives him a great chance to cash the over.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 31.5 Points (-108) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 32.2 points and went over this line in four of his last seven games, including his last outing, which he finished with 39 points. He also scored 26, 37, and 35 points in three matchups against the Portland Trail Blazers, all in November.

The Blazers are 24th in points allowed per game over the last few weeks and do not have any impressive backcourt defenders not named Toumani Camara. Gilgeous-Alexander cashed the over in both games in which the Blazers were competitive, and they won five of their last eight (and only lost one game by double-digits in that span).

Zion Williamson Over 23.5 Points (-112) at FanDuel Sportsbook

This line is just way too low for me not to bet the over. Williamson played 29 minutes in back-to-back games and is slowly earning more time on the court, and he went over this line in four of his last six games, one of those coming in a 32-point performance against the Knicks’ strong defense on Monday.

Both the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans rank in the top 10 in pace in the NBA, meaning that there will be lots of possessions and opportunities to put the ball in the hole. The Bulls are also in the bottom five in points allowed per game, and Williamson should be there to reap the rewards.
