There’s another day of NBA action approaching, and I’m back with more of my favorite player prop bets for Thursday.
Jalen Johnson dropped 32 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists in the Atlanta Hawks’ two-point win over the Memphis Grizzlies, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scorched the Milwaukee Bucks to the tune of 40 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds in a comfortable victory.
At the top of tonight’s lineup is the battle for Los Angeles between the Clippers and Lakers, as well as the Golden State Warriors battling the improving Dallas Mavericks.
Here are my top NBA player prop picks and bets for Thursday, Jan. 22.

I cashed a LaMelo prop yesterday, and I’m looking at another one today. The youngest Ball brother shot 1-15 (6.7 percent) from the field yesterday, only played 19 minutes in a blowout victory the game before, and 21 minutes in a blowout loss the game before that. He went under in all three of those games, but they were all so far away from the mean that I believe they lowered his line without reflecting a true decrease in probability.
Ball went over in all four of his last four “regular” games. The Orlando Magic are also living off of their reputation as a great defensive team from last year and the one before that, but they’re only 18th in points allowed per game over their last 15 outings.

Flagg went under in three of his last four, yet he scored 20+ points in three of his last seven outings. He also poured in 27 points on 61.9 percent shooting in his only previous matchup with the Golden State Warriors on Christmas.
The Dubs ranked 21st in points allowed per game over the last few weeks, and they just lost Jimmy Butler to a torn ACL. They don’t have much athleticism to begin with, and without one of their best defenders, I don’t foresee them having many great answers to slowing Flagg down.

Edwards averaged 5.0 rebounds per game and went over in five of his last seven outings, including his last game on Tuesday, which he finished with eight boards. The Chicago Bulls, meanwhile, rank 22nd in rebounds allowed per game.
One of the biggest reasons the Bulls concede so many rebounds is that they play at a rapid pace. Edwards only had two rebounds in their lone meeting earlier this season on Dec. 29, but I view that as an outlier, not an indication of a problem with this matchup.

These aren’t the most attractive odds in the world, but the likelihood of this hitting should be quite high. Doncic was on a cold streak on the boards, but he bounced back with 13 in his last outing against the Denver Nuggets, and he averaged 7.7 per game for the year.
The Clippers are a top-10 team on the boards, and Doncic split the over/under in two matchups against them. However, he likely would’ve gone over in both had he not only played 20 minutes in one of them, and he has a longstanding beef with the Clippers franchise that should motivate him tonight.

Pickett quietly became an important member of the Nuggets’ rotation, playing 27.6 minutes per night in January. He made the most of those opportunities, making 2.1 threes per game on 47.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc during that same time.
The 26-year-old guard went under when he faced the Washington Wizards less than a week ago, but he went over in four of his last six games, and the Wiz ranks 23rd in made threes allowed per game for the season.
