UConn leads the all-time series vs. St. John’s, but the Red Storm have won the last three meetings
The all-time series between Texas and Florida is tied at 4-4, but the Gators won the only game played in 25+ years (84-60, Jan. 18, 2025)
Wednesday’s college basketball slate features a number of great matchups. Enough to make it challenging for bettors to decide which one(s) to place wagers on. To that end, I am here to help with my best college basketball bets for Wednesday, February 25.
UConn fans will be hoping their Huskies can get a little revenge on St. John’s for the loss a couple of weeks ago. Like the last time, the Red Storm will not give up without a fight. As for Florida vs. Texas, the Longhorns could use a win over a top-ten Gators team to boost their tournament resume.
Spread: St. John’s +4.5 (-102) | Connecticut -4.5 (-120)
Moneyline: St. John’s +190 | Connecticut -235
Total: OVER 145.5 (-115) | UNDER 145.5 (-105)

When these guys met a couple of weeks ago, it was UConn coming in hot, riding an 18-game winning streak (12-0 in conference play) and a 1.5-point road favorite. But St. John’s had been playing solid basketball as well, with an eight-game winning streak (that included a win over UConn).
That eight-game winning streak has since grown to 13. The Red Storm last played on Saturday vs. Creighton, demolishing the Blue Jays, 81-52. As for UConn, the Huskies have won three of their last four with a 73-63 win over Villanova.
But all St. John’s needs to do is whatever they did last time, right? They did win by a comfortable nine-point margin, after all. So, to win, they just need to beat the Huskies on the boards, play tough-as-nails defense in the paint, and balanced scoring.
No problem! UConn is still having issues with turnovers; they had 15 to St. John’s ten in the first meeting. They won the turnover battle in the loss to Creighton (5 to 8), but lost the rebounding battle (41-35). But the common element in both losses is the free-throw line.
St. John’s got 22 points from the charity stripe to five for Connecticut. Creighton got 27 to UConn’s 11.
My Pick: St. John’s +4.5 at -102 at FanDuel
The Huskies are still making the same mistakes. I don’t think playing at home will make them magically go away. Connecticut will play a solid game on its own court, but the same issues will either hand St. John’s the win or keep it close.

With wins in their last seven games, the Florida Gators are sitting pretty on top of the SEC standings at 21-6, 12-2 SEC. Texas, on the other hand, is 17-10, 8-6 in the Big 12 and in danger of not making the Tournament without a signature win or two down the stretch.
Texas last played on Saturday, when the team lost to Georgia, 91-80. The Bulldogs led at the half by ten and cruised in the second to an 11-point win. But prior to that game. The Longhorns had won five in a row.
As for Florida, the Gators have won seven in a row and pretty much in blowout fashion; the closest deficit was +14 points vs. South Carolina. They are among the best in the conference when it comes to defense-oriented metrics, but know how to put points on the board as well (86.4 points per game, No. 17).
My Pick: Florida -6.5 at FanDuel
Playing at home will help keep Texas competitive in this game, but Florida’s elite defense will keep the Longhorns' offense from heating up. But Texas will play well enough in the first half to keep it interesting, but Florida will pull away in the second half.
