Back Liverpool with a -1.5 handicap. Tottenham Hotspur are struggling in the Premier League, so the Reds should be able to win this one by at least two clear goals.

Liverpool just cannot seem to build up a head of steam. It looked like things were moving in a positive direction after three Premier League wins in a row, with Liverpool defeating Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United in succession. Their performances were not perfect during that run, but it was Liverpool’s first three-match winning streak since December.
Then came a loss to last-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers. True, Rob Edwards’s side have improved of late, drawing with Arsenal and beating Aston Villa. But they are bottom of the table for a reason. Liverpool, a club with Champions League aspirations, ought to be beating them nine times out of 10.
Instead, despite dominating possession and giving up a grand total of zero shots before the 78th minute, Liverpool came unstuck at Molineux in their last Premier League outing. A 2-1 defeat, paired with Chelsea’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in the same gameweek, saw the Reds drop out of the top five.
There are four teams competing for three Champions League qualification berths behind Arsenal and Manchester City. Aston Villa are in poor form, while Manchester United were beaten in their last game and Chelsea remain inconsistent. As things stand, though, Liverpool are the side who would miss out.
There is still plenty of football to be played this term, and the Reds must believe they can turn the situation around. But zoom out a little and you will see that Liverpool have only won four of their last 11 matches in the Premier League. That is not the sort of record to strike fear into the hearts of their top-five rivals.
“Same old story,” Slot said after the loss to Wolves. “Recently, we are picking up points because many times we’ve scored from set-pieces, but what did not change in the last five, six or seven games is that we struggle and find it very hard to score from the open-play chances that we do create.”

Tottenham Hotspur began the campaign targeting Champions League soccer too. They are ending it by merely hoping to stay in the Premier League. Relegation would be an astonishing moment for the whole of English soccer. But it is no longer an unthinkable prospect.
Tottenham have been miserable for some time. They finished 17th last season, after all. True, Ange Postecoglou turned his attention towards the Europa League in the final months of 2024/25, but Spurs were hardly firing on all cylinders before then either. Yet the situation has somehow gotten even worse since then.
For the first time in Premier League history, Tottenham have just gone 11 matches without a win. Their latest setback came at the hands of Crystal Palace last week. Spurs actually went ahead in that match, taking the lead through Dominic Solanke. However, Micky van de Ven was then sent off and Ismaila Sarr brought Palace level from the penalty spot.
Then came the implosion. Playing with 10 men is not easy, but Tottenham could have dug in and made life difficult for Palace. Instead, they conceded twice in first-half stoppage time to put the game out of reach. There were no more goals and the Eagles held on for a 3-1 win, a result which keeps them in the mix for a top-eight finish.
Wolves and Burnley are almost certainly down already, leaving one more relegation place to be filled. West Ham United occupy it at present; they have 28 points to their name. Nottingham Forest are also on 28, while Tottenham have 29. Of the three, Spurs' record since the turn of the year is the worst. That bodes ill for their hopes of staying up.

Liverpool are a shadow of their former selves. They swaggered towards the Premier League title last term, yet this time around they have been largely disappointing. Still, Slot’s side are at least not in the predicament that Tottenham find themselves in.
Even when things were going well at Spurs, they struggled to win at Anfield. Indeed, they have not triumphed in the red half of Merseyside since May 2011, back when Kenny Dalglish and Harry Redknapp were the managers in the two dugouts. Their last trip to Anfield resulted in a 5-1 defeat.
Soccer is a strange game and you can never rule any result out, but at the time of writing it is hard to envisage anything other than a home victory this weekend. Remember, Liverpool have only been beaten once at Anfield since November - and even that was a last-gasp defeat by Manchester City, a title challenger.
The worry for Tottenham is they could lose heavily. From a betting point of view, our recommended selection is Liverpool with a -1.5 handicap. In other words, your bet would be successful if the Reds win the match by a two-goal margin or more. Given how badly Tottenham have been playing of late, that feat is well within the reach of the Premier League champions.
