We have seen these two NFC West rivals meet to open and close the season. Both games were low-scoring brawls that finished with totals below 31 points. That includes Week 18, when the Seahawks only managed 13 points against the Niners’ shorthanded defense.
We aren’t confident the Niners' offense can do much against a Seahawks defense that has arguably the best in the NFL this season. One big reason for that is quarterback Brock Purdy, who has thrown three interceptions against Seattle. That won’t get any better with Greg Kittle slated to miss the game, taking away one of the quarterback's favorite weapons.
While Purdy threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia in the Wild Card Round, he completed only 58.1% of his passes and was intercepted twice. Seattle’s defense will present even more of a challenge, which is why we don’t expect the Niners quarterback to do much on Saturday night.
On the other side of the ball, the Niners' defense has defied the odds after losing Nick Bosa and Fred Warner for the season. That includes last week against the Eagles, when they allowed 19 points on 307 yards.
Seattle’s offense finished third in scoring during the regular season, averaging an impressive 28.4 points per game. However, we have serious questions about Sam Darnold's reliability in the postseason. While he ranks in the top ten of the league in passing yards and touchdowns, he has thrown more interceptions than any other quarterback to start 16+ games this season.

Seattle consistently JSN’s way when they’ve needed big plays in big moments. That resulted in him leading the NFL with 1,793 yards and ranking tenth in average yards per catch (15.1).
The receiver opened up with a breakout campaign with 124 yards on nine receptions against this Niners team. While he posted only 84 in Week 18, that was on the road in San Francisco, which is a difficult place to play.
Now he’ll be returning home, where he has topped this total in seven of eight games this season. The lone exception against a great Vikings defense, which the Niners can’t match. Darnold may make some big mistakes, but he’ll also connect for JSN for some big plays in this Divisional Round matchup.
San Francisco has struggled against the pass this season, ranking twenty-third in the league in yards allowed per game (241.8).

While CMC didn’t have his best season as a rusher, he has been an incredible receiver for the Niners in 2025. The former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award winner posted 924 receiving yards, his highest total since 2019. He also saw a career-high 311 targets, despite working with multiple quarterbacks due to injuries.
CMC’s status as one of Purdy’s favorite targets will only improve with Greg Kittle out. The injury led to the back catching six balls on eight targets. It was the third time he had had six receptions over his last four games.
With Seattle’s secondary making passing difficult, expect to see the Niners rely on their superstar on the ground and through the air. They did so in both games against their rival this season, with CMC combining for 15 catches.
