Back Manchester City to win the first half. Pep Guardiola’s side tend to be strong before the interval, while Tottenham Hotspur have struggled at home all season.

When Tottenham Hotspur turned in a dominant display in a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund last week, optimists felt it could be a turning point for Thomas Frank. Alas, when Spurs returned to Premier League action a few days later, there was more disappointment in store for their supporters.
A 2-2 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor might not be a disastrous result in isolation, but it forms part of a pattern that does not make for positive reading. From fifth place during the most recent international break in November, Tottenham have fallen to lower mid-table after winning only one of their last eight top-flight matches.
That sequence includes a five-game winless streak that has left Frank under huge pressure. It is impossible to gauge just how many Spurs supporters still back the manager, but it now feels like a majority want to see a change in the dugout.
Results are only a part of the problem. Frank’s style of play is a problem too. In fairness, Tottenham did create chances against Burnley last weekend. But they remain too passive and not as inventive as their fans would like. Tottenham have long had a reputation for valuing offensive, attractive soccer. That is not what Frank is serving up right now.
That would not be such a problem if Tottenham were in or around the top four. But the fact that they are so far behind the Champions League qualification spots puts Frank in a very difficult position. He cannot point to either results or style as a plus point.
For the time being at least, he appears to retain the backing of his superiors. How long that lasts is anyone's guess, but Frank surely cannot survive a bad February. The former Brentford boss could really do with a win when Manchester City travel to north London on Sunday.

Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out. It was just the sort of low-key, routine victory City needed after a poor start to 2026 had thrown their title chances into doubt.
Indeed, that success against last-placed Wolves was their first in the league since the turn of the year. Previously, City had drawn with Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea, after which came a damaging 2-0 defeat by Manchester United.
“We had to break the last results and against a team that struggled from the beginning of the season with results and have made a bit of a change with Rob [Edwards],” Guardiola said afterwards. “Last 20 or 25 minutes was a little flat but considering the amount of games and everything, it was a good result.”
City’s aforementioned downturn in form allowed Arsenal to increase their advantage at the summit of the standings, although Guardiola’s men pulled three points back last weekend. The Gunners are still favorites to claim the title with the best online sportsbooks, but City must not give up yet. There is ample title-winning experience within their locker room, and City will hope that proves to be a factor as the finish line approaches.
The arrival of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace means City now have a fit senior center-back - and a top one at that. Guehi is a magnificent defender and he will bring some much-needed experience and composure to the City backline, which is currently without the injured trio of Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones.
Former Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, another January arrival, has also helped to freshen things up at the Etihad Stadium. City, the winners of four titles in the last five years, are not done yet.

There is no doubt that Manchester City have enjoyed more success than Tottenham Hotspur over the last few years, as you would expect when you compare the amount of money the two clubs have invested in their respective rosters.
Yet despite regularly finishing behind City in the table, Spurs have a pretty decent record against them. They won at the Etihad earlier in the campaign, but most of Tottenham’s success against their upcoming opponents has come in north London. Spurs have won four of the last six Premier League clashes involving this pair in front of their own fans.
That will not necessarily count for anything on Sunday, but Frank may actually be more comfortable facing a team that will take control of the ball, allowing Tottenham to play a more reactive brand of soccer.
That could easily backfire, though, especially if City start well - as they usually do. Guardiola's men have the best overall first-half record in the division, while in home games Spurs rank 18th from minutes one to 45. We expect City to be in the lead when the referee blows up for half-time.
