After a wild MLB Wild Card round, we are set to kick off the Divisional matchups today. All four series bring plenty of intrigue and promise to feature plenty of home runs. Below, we’ll share the three players we are backing to hit a home run tonight, giving you an edge heading into the next round of the playoffs.

Teoscar Hernandez came to play in the NL Wild Card Round. He launched a pair of home runs while batting .400 over two games. The righty had 25 home runs on the season, which was lower than 2024 only due to injury. Last season with the Dodgers, Hernandez batted .250 with three home runs en route to a World Series win.
Hernandez will be happy to see Cristopher Sanchez (13-5, 2.50 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) on the mound in Philly tonight. He’s seen the talented young pitcher 11 times and posted a .417 average with two home runs and a pair of doubles.
He has also hit well at Citizens Bank Park this season, batting .455 with two home runs and two doubles.

Easy as it is to back the two-time AL MVP winner to go deep on most nights, his postseason numbers are far less impressive. He’s batting .212 over 61 postseason games, but it hasn’t stopped him from adding 16 home runs.
We also saw Judge look far better last season, batting .364 over three games. While he didn’t go deep, his ability to see the ball like he does during the regular season is far more important.
We believe Judge’s improved playoff production will remain strong today with Kevin Gausman (10-11, 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). The veteran ace has had another strong season for the Jays, but he ended it by allowing eight runs on 17 hits over his final two starts (9 ⅓ innings).
Gausman won’t be happy to see the Yankee slugger tonight, as Judge owns a .354 average with six home runs over 48 at-bats against the veteran.

We weren’t planning to look at this game until we learned that Troy Melton (3-2, 2.76 ERA, 1.01 WHIP) would be starting tonight. The 24-year-old will only have an inning or two, but will give Raleigh a chance to start the Mariners' playoff run with a bang.
Melton made his first playoff appearance late in Game 2 of the ALWC round, and it did not go well. The young pitcher picked up the loss thanks to allowing one home run and four earned runs on three hits.
The Big Dumper’s impressive season saw him lead the league with 60 home runs. While his batting average sank after the All-Star break, it didn’t stop or even slow down his power numbers. Whether it's against Melton or the Tigers' bullpen, we believe the catcher will send one deep at home tonight.
