The nomadic Athletics have been one of the best stories in baseball this season. They are third in an AL West race that is up for grabs. They’ll look to keep their winning ways going as they take on the Marlins tonight. We’ll share our favorite bet for the game and two others we are locking in.

Marlins | -1.5 (+170) | -125 | Under 8.5 (-115) |
Don’t look now, but the A’s have a winning record heading into May. A big reason for that has been the offense, which ranks in the top ten in batting average (.253), home runs (41), and OPS (.731). With Brent Rooker and Tyler Soderstrom leading the way, this is a team that can score a lot of runs.
The Marlins will have one of their top young starters on the mound tonight in Max Meyer (2-3, 3.18 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). The 26-year-old started the season strong, but was hammered by the Mariners his last time out. The righty allowed five earned runs, five hits, and four walks across four innings.
Meyer could very well bounce back tonight, but he’ll eventually need to turn things over to the bullpen, which will hand the A’s the win. The unit has been getting shelled over the last week, posting an ERA of 7.94.
The A’s will also have Osvaldo Bido (2-2, 4.31 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) starting in place of JP Sears today. The 29-year-old hasn’t done much in the big leagues, but has been a surprisingly solid contributor in the rotation. He has allowed 15 runs over 31 ⅓ innings, but eight of those runs came in a nightmare start against the Rangers. In his other five starts this season, he is 2-1 with a 2.41 ERA.

Cubs | -1.5 (+158) | -110 | Over 8.5 (-110) |
Brewers | +1.5 (-190) | -110 | Under 8.5 (-110) |
The Cubs' bullpen has been devastated by injuries, but you wouldn’t guess it by watching them over the last week. Closer Ryan Pressley (4 SV, 2.08 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) has shaken off a rough start to the season, holding opponents scoreless since March 29. The team has also gotten an unexpected boost from 25-year-old Daniel Palencia (2.08 ERA, 0.81 WHIP), who looks vastly improved in 2025.
The bullpen will be supporting starter James Tallion (1-1, 4.01 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) tonight. The 33-year-old was shelled in his first start, but owns a 2.76 ERA over five starts this month. We like that trend to continue against a Brewers team that posted a .184 batting average over three games last season.
The Brew Crew will have veteran Jose Quintana (4-0, 1.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) start opposite Tallion. The lefty has made starts for his new team this season and has not allowed more than one run (earned or otherwise). His control isn’t quite locked in, but he has shut down some talented lineups. He will do so again tonight.

Tigers | -1.5 (-125) | -195 | Over 8.5 (-120) |
Angels | +1.5 (+105) | +162 | Under 8.5 (+100) |
Is it time to worry about Jack Flaherty (1-3, 3.34 ERA, 1.11 WHIP)? The Tigers' ace has looked shaky over the last few weeks. He is allowing too many base runners, which cost him badly the previous week. The righty surrendered four runs on six hits, two walks, and two home runs over five innings.
The Angels' lineup isn’t hitting for average in 2025, but they have a ton of power. Mike Trout and Logan O’Hoppe both have nine home runs, and the team has the fifth-highest total in the league. That could be a big problem for a struggling Flaherty, leading to another rough outing.
The Tigers' lineup is one of the best in baseball, and they own an impressive .813 OPS over the last week. They have been boosted by Riley Greene getting hot, posting a .419 average, five home runs, and ten RBIs over his previous seven games.
Expect Detroit’s bats to stay hot with Kyle Hendricks (0-3, 6.65 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) on the mound for the Angels. The veteran was sharp over his first two starts, but his 2024 struggles have resurfaced. He has an 11.25 ERA over his previous three starts, and allowed seven earned runs and five walks over three innings his last time out.
