The Orioles have been the biggest disappointment in MLB this season. They are loaded with talent on offense, but their pitching staff is atrocious.
Baltimore is 15-27 in last place in the AL East and I simply can’t trust them at this point. Washington isn't much better at 18-27, but I think they have the pitching advantage on Friday.
MacKenzie Gore gets the start for the Nationals and he has an ERA of 3.59 in 52.2 innings. He has struck out 75 batters which is the most in the league.
Gore will be able to utilize his strikeout ability against an offense that is hitting .228 as a team, the fifth worst in baseball.
Cade Povich gets the ball for the Orioles and he is 1-3 with a 5.55 ERA. Washington should find a way to get Povich rattled and scratch a few runs early in the game.

The best pitching matchup of the day takes place in Boston between Chris Sale and Garrett Crochet. Boston is 22-23 on the year and Atlanta is 22-22.
Both offenses have been good in 2025, but they will be challenged on Friday. Sale is coming off a Cy Young in 2024 and although the numbers aren’t great, he is still one of the best arms in the league.
Crochet is 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA this season. He has fanned 65 batters in 56 innings and I expect him to dominate Atlanta’s offense.
This is the lowest total of the day and for a good reason. Both starters have the ability to go deep into this game and put up great numbers, including strikeouts.
Atlanta is hitting .216 as a team on the road which is significantly lower than their home average at .264.

St. Louis and Kansas City are two of the hottest teams in baseball right now, but the Royals have the pitching advantage.
Cole Ragans takes the mound for Kansas City and he is one of the best young arms in baseball. He has 65 strikeouts in 40.2 innings which separates him from a lot of pitchers.
The Cardinals will go with Andre Pallante who is 3-2 with a 4.36 ERA in 2025. He yields a ton of ground balls.
St. Louis is hitting .262 as a team which is the fifth best in baseball, but Kansas City isn’t too far behind.
I trust Ragan’s strikeout ability to shut down the Cardinals lineup on Friday.
