Best NRFI Bets Today: Trust Max Fried To Deliver

Max Fried has been one of the best pitchers in the American League this season. He has a tough challenge on Wednesday, but I trust him for one of my two NRFI bets.

Mariners vs. Athletics - Bryan Woo vs. Gunnar Hoglund (3:35  PM, EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-120) at Caesars Sportsbook

One of the best NRFI wagers for Wednesday is in the Mariners vs Athletics game. Bryan Woo has been fantastic this year, and he will start for Seattle against Gunnar Hoglund of the Athletics. 

The oddsmakers don’t trust Hoglund yet, but he was fantastic in his last start. He went six innings, allowing one earned run on six hits. 

This is Hoglund’s first year in the big leagues, and prices have yet to be adjusted when he starts. He has a great arm with elite strikeout ability and should find success against Seattle. 

Woo has been one of the best pitchers in 2025 and can shine on any day. He is 4-1 with a 2.58 ERA in 38.1 innings.

Woo averages a strikeout per inning, which is needed when taking NRFI wagers. His ability to get out of the first inning clean is exceptional, and I expect this on Wednesday. 

The Athletics have exceeded expectations on offense in 2025 as they have the sixth-best team batting average at .256. However, Woo is better than their offense. 

Seattle is hitting .244 as a team this season, the 14th best in baseball. Their offense doesn’t scare me when taking this NRFI, as I trust the young arm in Hoglund.

Padres vs. Yankees  - Dylan Cease vs. Max Fried (7:05 PM, EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-125) at Caesars Sportsbook

Taking a NRFI in Yankee Stadium can be terrifying, but this game has the perfect pitching matchup on Wednesday. Dylan Cease gets the ball for San Diego against the undefeated Max Fried. 

Yankee Stadium is an offensive ballpark. Granted, some of the best hitters in the MLB will get an at-bat in the first inning, but I love the pitchers in this game. 

Cease doesn’t have the numbers to show for in 2025, but he can shut down New York’s bats. He has 39 strikeouts in 33.2 innings, so I like him in this spot. 

Fried is 6-0 in 2025 with a 1.01 ERA in 44.2 innings. No other pitcher has been more trustworthy than Fried based on his stats. 

In Fried’s last three starts, he is 3-0 and hasn’t allowed a single run in 20.2 innings. This is dominance, and he will continue it against the Padres. 

These offenses are among the top five in team batting average, but the pitching matchup is too good to ignore.

• Rangers vs. Red Sox - Tyler Mahle vs. Tanner Houck - This game has the highest total of the day at 9, and both pitchers tend to allow runs early. 

• Tigers vs. Rockies - Jackson Jobe vs. Chase Dollander - Colorado is a great ballpark to hit at and both pitchers have allowed a ton of runs in 2025.
