The Los Angeles Dodgers will face elimination against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. The Dodgers are a talented team, but their season is in jeopardy in Game 6.
The Blue Jays offense was outstanding in Game 5, but I’m taking the NRFI in Game 6.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto is coming into this game in elite form. He has a 2.49 ERA and WHIP of just 0.99 this season, which speaks volumes about his ability to keep hitters off base and limit damage early.
The quickest way to lose an NRFI is by giving up a home run, and Yamamoto has barely allowed hard contact in 2025. Kevin Gausman has been on the same page as Yamamoto as well this season.
He brings serious credibility to this matchup with a 3.59 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP, showing he doesn’t easily yield early opportunities to opponents. This is who the Blue Jays want on the mound with a chance to close out the World Series.
The Dodgers did hit Gausman in their first game of the World Series, but he should be better in this spot. Great pitchers respond, and Gausman fits the mold.
When we look at team offense, the Blue Jays have the edge in batting average (.265) and on-base percentage (.333), topping their league in both categories. However, both teams are dangerous at the plate.
This NRFI shouldn’t be easy with great offenses, but pitching tends to win in big moments.
The Dodgers themselves, in postseason batting, are hitting .236 as a team, which is well behind the Blue Jays’ .284 in those same playoff games. They will come to the plate first in Toronto.
The low batting average is a sign the Dodgers have been powerful, but not consistent at the plate. Gausman should gain energy from the home crowd and have a stellar performance in this contest.
If we take a deeper dive into the stats, Yamamoto’s away numbers are excellent. He has an ERA of 2.13 on the road this year, which gives further confidence that he can begin strong in the first inning of this contest.
The Blue Jays tend to start slow, outside of their last game, and we’re doubtful that they’ll do it twice in this spot. Their lineup will be facing a pitcher who has already demonstrated elite control and composure early in his starts.
This is a great spot for the NRFI, considering it’s an elimination game for Los Angeles. They should be aggressive and that could lead to early swings and misses.
