Arizona Cardinals Next Coach Odds: Top Options Already in the NFC West

The Arizona Cardinals were one of 10 teams that fired their head coach during the 2026 coaching carousel, and the Cardinals’ next coach odds indicate there’s still an open race to fill the vacancy.

Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur is in the lead with a 57 percent chance, according to prediction platform Kalshi. Numerous other candidates are also in the running, and LaFleur is down from 84 percent as of Tuesday evening.

Nailing the hire is crucial for the Cardinals, who play in a loaded NFC West. With no end in sight, the ball is firmly in the front office’s court.

Odds to Become the Next Cardinals Coach

LaFleur was one of the most important voices on the Rams during their run to the NFC Championship Game, where they were defeated by another NFC West opponent, the Seattle Seahawks. The 38-year-old brother of Green Bay Packers head coach, Matt LaFleur, also helped coach quarterback Matthew Stafford to a presumptive MVP season, although he did not call the plays.

LaFleur spent the last three seasons working as the Rams’ OC. Before that, he was the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator from 2021-22.

While the younger LaFLeur remains the top candidate, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has picked up a ton of steam. After only having a three percent chance on Wednesday morning, Kubiak quickly climbed to 27 percent.

Another 38-year-old, Kubiak’s third career season calling plays will see his team take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. The Seahawks scored the second-most points per game (29.2), only trailing the Rams (30).

Third in Cardinals next coach odds is Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. His only previous head-coaching history was a two-year stint with the Denver Broncos, during which his teams went 11-21. He served as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator from 2019-22 before he reunited with the Broncos as their DC from 2023-present.

Joseph has an 11 percent chance of landing the gig at the time of writing.

An Important Decision

Other candidates on Kalshi’s list of Cardinals next coach odds include ex-Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris (three percent), California general manager Ron Rivera (three percent), and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver (two percent).

Whoever is selected for the position will replace the outgoing Jonathan Gannon, who went 15-36 in three seasons and never finished better than 8-9. Gannon was hired for his excellent work with the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense during their run to the Super Bowl LVIII loss, yet the Cardinals ranked 30th in defensive EPA per play across his three seasons in charge.

Choosing the best candidate is crucial for the Cardinals. They hold the rights to the third pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, giving them potential access to top prospects such as Rueben Bain Jr., Arvell Reese, Carnell Tate, Caleb Downs, David Bailey, Spencer Fano, and Francis Mauigoa, among others.

There could also be an opportunity for the Cardinals to trade up to the top spot to select Indiana’s national champion and Heisman-winning quarterback, Fernando Mendoza. Doing so would effectively end the tenure of Kyler Murray, the former first-overall pick who was benched for poor performances.

The Cardinals’ last head coach to work five years consecutively was Bruce Arians from 2013-17. They have only made the playoffs one time since 2015, a 2021 endeavor under Kliff Kingsbury that ended in a blowout loss in the Wild Card.
